I listened to this song with my bassist friend and 2-3 other musicians friends while my band and I were rehearsing in a small house for a week. We really did relate to the melancholia, the atmosphere of the song. It was connected to this moment. My friend passed away in February of 2021. I was a late for his burial day, and at the exact moment I went into the cemetery, this song was playing through the speakers before his coffin was about to get buried. We never really talked too much about how this song was important for us, and when I heard it this day I felt numb and deeply sad. And it hit me like a ton of bricks, how much we loved each other and how much I will miss him.

After countless years of searching, I have finally found a music video where Anthony Kiedis has a shirt on.

I can never understand how this song remains so underrated while it is such a wonderful song, nostalgia, calmness and peace together. I loved this song since the very first time I heard it and the solo violon section is just amazing.

Sting would be proud of that bridge. This is simply one of the best songs ever written.

Man Red Hot Chili Peppers are so versatile. They can do alternative, metal, funk, and acoustic ballads easily.

This feels like a very healing song after what those 3 especially went through with each other - Chad was never heavy into all the drama lol. Just seeing the 3 of them in their element together being peaceful and forgiving - it's the best. I understand why they only needed to play it a few times and moved on but I still wish they would bring it back cause it's one of their best songs ;)

FOR THOSE WHO WANNA KNOW WHY CHAD AINT HERE I PICKED THIS UP FROM WIKIPEDIA: The song tells of a road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway in which lead singer Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante and bassist Flea surfed at Big Sur following Frusciante's return to the band. Drummer Chad Smith did not take the trip with his bandmates due to other commitments and also because he wasn't into surfing. As such, Chad Smith only appears briefly halfway through the video, arriving in a boat. As you can see here 1:50 there are 4 people.

Californication was my favorite RHCP album. Road trippin was always that one song that just stayed with me, to to mention it was the closing track! So glad John is back with the group.

So in love with John Frusciante it hurts. This is probably my favorite RHCP song. No offense Chad lol. John's haunting harmonies both with his vocals and guitar stun me. The additional strings are absolutely gorgeous and stirring. This is a masterpiece in my eyes and ears ❣️✌️🌶️

I was a kid living and growing up in Europe and listening this song. There was something capturing about it. While listening, I was imaging USA roads and doing road trips on the sunsets. Little I knew, 20 years after life have brought me to USA and settle down here. Now I do road trips almost every weekend, escaping from the busy city life and realizing this song described my future that I never thought it would be possible.

As I listen to this track, I can't help but hear the influence that Simon and Garfunkel has on contemporary musicians!

Criminally underplayed

Back then, this album is when I fell in love with RHCP. I remember played this song on a loop when I was studying.
