I do love the version at Olympia. Not sure why I chose this one. It was a long time ago, but I love this version too.

They pretty much covered it note for note. You definitely never heard this song if you don't recognize it.

Agreed. It's a pretty straight cover. The biggest difference from the original is probably the vocals because Anthony Kiedis obviously doesn't sound much like Iggy Pop.

This was iggy pop (and the stooges) from their 3rd album Raw Power which was produced by Iggy Pop and David Bowie.. Iggy wrote the song and sang it...

Watching fully, liking, commenting. My love for the peppers goes as far as knowing their famous songs, not really liking this song, but eeh it's allrigjt I guess, I'm glad you liked it tho David! I am really looking forward towards the warning concert review tho!

Thanks for the reaction David. I think I requested this one after you were discussing covers and changing them to bring something different. This one has much the same structure as the original, but has it's own feet, which is subtle, but clear. The tone is completely different. All of the instruments are brighter and clearer than the original. The original is from 1973 and was recorded on a small budget, so that's probably a factor. This version is slightly faster too. Flea and Chad nailed their parts, but I love John's tone here. He really brightens up the guitar sound from the original, with some subtle changes to the soloing. As others have said, check out the live version at Olympia. Absolutely rocking out. With you on the 90s punk BTW. Except maybe Rancid, and Refused and At The Drive In. The later 2 were pretty late 90s though. The Peppers also played a cover of the punk song Black Cross, by 45 Grave, live, which they also do a great job of. Side note, Flea is playing with fingers, I'm pretty sure. He never played with a pick til the Californication album. He used to be totally against it. He does it occasionally these days, where he sees fit. Also, The Stooges first 2 albums, they were called The Stooges, then they broke up and later reformed as Iggy And The Stooges for the 3rd album, which this is from.

Stooges have a more raw sound with a wider range. This sounds compressed to me.

I'm used to the Beavis and Butthead Experience mix. This sounds.. too clean of a mix. The BB mix is more raw with a longer intro.

I very surprised you haven't never heard this song before. It's been covered a lot (it's also been used in movies and commercials). It was pretty much a staple in the SD punk venues of my youth. The Chili's 1st two records have a definite raw punk feel, and Flea played with the legendary band fear, but I am not a fan of this Chili's cover. I don't think Anthony's voice fits this song for me. Punk vocals are about conviction and urgency, though I respect the RCHP for paying homage to a classic, I prefer the original.
