Lyrics:
Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like My only friend
Is the city I live in, The City of Angels
Lonely as I am together we cry
I drive on her streets 'cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills 'cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
Well, I never worry, now that is a lie
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
But take me to the place I love, take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
But take me to the place I love take me all the way
Yeah, yeah yeah
It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city, she loves me
Lonely as I am together we cry
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
But take me to the place I love take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
But take me to the place I love take me all the way
Yeah, yeah yeah
Oh, no, no, no, yeah yeah
Love me, I say, yeah yeah
One time
(Under the bridge downtown)
Is where I drew some blood
(Under the bridge downtown)
I could not get enough
(Under the bridge downtown)
Forgot about my love
(Under the bridge downtown)
I gave my life away, yeah
Yeah yeah
Oh, no, no no no, yeah yeah
Oh no, I said oh, yeah yeah
Here I stay

I hit the coke and amphetamine wave of the late 90s, in England. I was 17, and was into mostly punk, and ska. But, this song was EVERYWHERE. It permeated parties, after parties, speakers, guitars.....You name it. EVERYONE loved it....Goths, punks, metalheadz, bikers, ravers....it just moved around and did it's thing. I guess it just finds everyone who needs it. I lost my mind, my house, my job, my partner, had a bunch of hospital visits, surgeries, psychological episodes, went to war, went to rehab, and got kicked out of the army. I then struggled for another 8 years. I'm 5 years clean this month. Life is good. It's sad....leaving that world, and the people in it. Real life is strange. These days I'm addicted to physical training and gardening! Funny, eh? Good luck everyone, and thanks Anthony!

I can relate to this 25 years ago. I ran away from home because my parents both are drug addicts. I live under the bridge for some time. It was some stressful times. so I tried cocaine and I was addicted to it. Until I met the love of my life. It was what you call love at first sight. to make her my Lover I need to stop. but I can't. so I started working at a Grocery store and I realized I can stop just by making myself busy. After Sober I cofessed to her and she turns out she loved me too. Now we have 2 childrens. and I don't contact my parents anymore because I heard from the neighbours they are still drug addicts. Thank you for hearing me out. This was the toughest moments at my life.

My brother was a drug addict, he died two days before Christmas last year. It had been ten years since the last time I saw him, he left home to make it big in LA. He hadn't called home in almost two years, today we got the cause of death. Pneumonia, from severe autoimmune deficiency. He had AIDS, he never called because he didn't want mom to know. He did a lot of stupid stuff in his life, but there was always the possibility of a better future somewhere down the line. This song and others will always remind me of him, and how there are people out there that just want to belong. Love others, appreciate them, and help them when they're down.

Well I was going to leave well enough alone but ok. First off just because a song has a line related to heroine doesn't make the song about heroine. If a farm grows corn along with countless other vegetables it isn't a corn farm. The song is about being alone and coping with it, so yes, drugs played a crucial role in this, but that doesn't make the entire song about one specific drug. It's much deeper and meaningful than that. If you want songs about drugs listen to hip hop. Victor, all I'll say is look up "red herring argument".

In 1992 my father died and I remember feeling "I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day" so hard - and I linked it with how it bad I felt during the time my father was sick and when he finally died in April 1992. But later it became something I referred to as I became more heavily dependent on sedatives and alcohol. Having to withdraw from benzos, alcohol, and other narcotics was so painful that each time I endured that struggle - that line came to mind. I did it over and over again, until in 2015 I quit drugs and alcohol for good. I still miss my father, as being without him comes to 30 years.

I could be wrong, but I feel like them showing Anthony running at the end of the video with the explosions in the background right when it goes to the part about being under the bridge is symbolic of him chasing his next high while at the same time it’s destroying him. I remember watching this as a kid having no idea what this song was about and thinking him running at the end was so random but now as an adult watching and listening to this hits so much differently.

This song gives me depression every time i hear, "i threw my life away" because i am kind of in the same boat as him when he wrote this and it reminds me that i am throwing my life away. i wish i knew how he beat it.

Lyrics 🤗 Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner Sometimes I feel like my only friend Is the city I live in, the city of angels Lonely as I am, together we cry I drive on her streets 'cause she's my companion I walk through her hills 'cause she knows who I am She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy Well, I never worry, now that is a lie I don't ever wanna feel Like I did that day Take me to the place I love Take me all the way I don't ever wanna feel Like I did that day Take me to the place I love Take me all the way Yeah, yeah, yeah It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there It's hard to believe that I'm all alone At least I have her love, the city, she loves me Lonely as I am, together we cry I don't ever wanna feel Like I did that day Take me to the place I love Take me all the way I don't ever wanna feel Like I did that day Take me to the place I love Take me all the way Yeah, yeah, yeah Oh, no, no-no, yeah, yeah Love me, I say, yeah yeah One time (Under the bridge downtown) Is where I drew some blood (Under the bridge downtown) I could not get enough (Under the bridge downtown) Forgot about my love (Under the bridge downtown) I gave my life away Yeah, yeah Oh, no, no-no-no, yeah, yeah Oh, no, I said, oh, yeah, yeah Will I stay?

This song always brings tears to my eyes, it takes me back 15 years, when Vancouver, BC was my city, a city where I knew what it was like to be poor, to be alone, to struggle to eat, where I had the most difficult moments but also the best memories of my youth, the city that I love so much. Now here in my office in my homeland, listening to this song, the tears come back remembering those times.

I listened to this song during my darkest days. Heroin addiction had me by a hold so strong, I gave my entire life away over and over again. Giving more than I had to give. I finally checked myself into detox and by the Grace of God, am 5 days sober. 5 days. I know it seems small, but it's everything to me. Now I can listen to this song with tears of happiness. Thank you RHCP, I couldn't have done it without songs like this one. We do get better.

Those first few days are the longest. They get shorter and shorter, easier and easier. It will never leave you but you'll eventually get to a point where you like the new things about yourself enough that you don't want to go back to the old things. I have a strong resonance with this song, which runs through my entire teenage years. Imagine a 17-year-old lonely child walking under a bridge on Christmas Eve, listening to this song and welcoming the arrival of the New Year alone. It's so sad. Then, when I went to college, I stayed away from my hometown and went to school outside. Every night, I miss everything in my hometown. Now I have grown up. This song also accompanies me every time I feel lonely. Under the bridge of the Red Pepper, like the continuation of life, I think this song will accompany me through the loneliness and fragility of my life😢😢😢😢❤❤❤
