Но если все это привезти в машине и разогреть, то можно сразу несколько лунок этой болванкой сделать, так что с какой то стороны этот способ и неплохой.

For some reason I wonder how many stress fractures are in that lump of steel now. Water quenching rapidly cools metal but this rapid loss of heat can cause metal that had expanded to contract causing fractures. That’s why when quenching metal, oil is generally preferred because it doesn’t quench it quite as rapidly as water, reducing the risk of fractures in the metal.

Water cannot exceed 100 degrees. So the heat of the steel is wasted. To get more holes we need to move the steel to many spots even before getting the entire penetration and then get back to these spots when they are cold again . It takes few seconds as the lake is totally frozen. By the way I guess they use this method to have circles in the lake for fishing .

I am suprised the ice doesnt break lines at all which could cause the person to fall in the water.

I still think an ice auger would be more convenient for ice fishing.😊😊

Man, I would have left that thing down there for a few hours before bringing it back up, just to make sure it’s cooled off.
