I was on holiday in Wales and they were everywhere. I was feeding some gulls when a red kite swooped down and took food of my plate brushing the side of my face with its wings and body.... all I saw where big talons full of food... I felt privileged to have one so close x

Kites are extremely common where I live but you never get to see them up close like this

I remember when we used to get really excited to see a red kite along the A1m. Now it's a normal sight! We should not forget that this is a massive success story! Great photography here!

Awesome shots. Saw a pair of kites divebombing eachother and thought they were fighting until I saw this video. Man I wish I noticed these amazing birds years ago.

Great piece of filming I see my first kite 40 years ago above pitsea fleet.i reported to the rangers my sighting and they dismissed it. As red kites only live in Wales I was told by the rangers. A beautiful bird to see and watch the aerial acrobatics. Thank you for sharing this film with the community

Lovely bit of filming. I live on top of a high rise tower block overlooking Leicester, we get a lot of raptors and other birds flying off the top of my building to catch the thermals. I've seen peregrine falcons, buzzards, I even found the wings of a dead hen harrier in the carpark, blown off the roof after being eaten by some other bird, kestrels, and recently red kites. I've seen buzzards circling round each other in the last few months, as spring was beginning, and seen a red kite recently. They are so majestic. Thanks for sharing this beautiful stunning clip showing an insight into their majestic courtship flight. It's as if they are practicing sharing their catch together, showing their bonds, by their talons together.

thanks for that info and description, a type of life that is so far removed from mine in rural NZ, but so intriguing and surprising too!

Amazing birds. They're not seen where I live in Surrey, but they almost an invasive species where I originally grew up only 40 miles away (Thames Valley between Oxford & Reading). They simply weren't around back in the 1970s & 1980s. I was back in my home town last week, and these birds were just everywhere. Just awesome.

I see them everywhere now. Even in huge groups during breeding season. They went from nowhere to everywhere very quickly. There was none in the UK when I was a kid.

Had no idea it was a mating ritual. I thought they were fighting! I had the pleasure of seeing 11 of them in the sky over my house in Hemel Hempstead. Was a pleasure to behold.🙏🏽
