Red gives a ton of useful information in these short halftime spots. I was old enough to see remember hurt Pete. His knee injury really hurt him after .His stature as the most amazing scorer and passer was legend. You tube has great mind boggling shots and passes. For more crazy dribbling drills youtube pete Maravich homework dribbling. He breaks it down like a doctor. The shooting video is just as good.

Think this Red On Roundball piece originally ran during halftime of the Portland Phoenix game toward the end of the 1977 regular season.

He is better and more underrated than Steve Nash

Shut up asshole !!! Steve Nash is a great great player.

Capitan Futuro he never said he was bad dumbass
@jingqi91064 жыл бұрын
Pete was amazing but Nash was a better % shooter - the only player to ever shoot 90% from the line, 50% from 2, and 40% from 3 four times.

That Stutter dribble is AMAZING. Better than cross overs, it's more efficient.
@eddiehammond81655 жыл бұрын
More within the rules, too. Today's crossover dribbles always end up as carries.

Calvin Murphy could do much of this as well. He too perfected similar drills. 2 best ball handlers I've seen, along with Isiah Thomas.
@gumballrally4277 жыл бұрын
Murphy was phenomenal, especially considering he was well under six feet tall. Did you know he also was a expert baton twirler?

Don't forget Earl Monroe: Maravich & the Pearl are the two best ball-handlers ever. Because they did it in the era when you couldn't "carry" the ball!

I used to love these when they came on and there was another one that used to come on with "Pisto"l showcasing an array of different drills. I would practice the different drills all the time. I felt that they improved my little junior high school game somewhat ha, hahaha. Pete was something else he had the inner city kids emulating his game that's how spectacular he was. Which was usual back then because although I "loved"Jerry West and Rick Barry the kids in my neighborhood weren't trying to emulate them. Most of the kids wanted to play more like "Earl the Pearl" "Tiny Archibald" and "Pistol" because they played more of a inner city type game. The NBA didn't have alot of guys like that back then until the infusion of the ABA players after the merger.

And to think he did these amazing skills when palming lifting and carrying the ball were dribbling violations.. to this day.. no one can dribble the way he does...

Pistol petes probably the only one who could ever handel the ball like that
@dan160008 жыл бұрын
+alfonso White Well in that era you weren't allowed to touch the sides of the ball or pause the ball in the air to do hesitation moves or cross overs, so you had to have sharp skill to get the most out of the strict rules. Today is a lot easier to dribble and it makes today's players look like much better dribblers than they really are, but most moves today would be called for a carry back then. You can see Curry today really exploiting the full potential of what you can do by touching the sides of the ball.
