The Radius is a ring modulator and frequency shifter with pitch tracking and an advanced LFO. It is designed around a novel "eight-quadrant multiplier" algorithm that smoothly transitions from ring modulation to frequency shifting and allows different frequency ratios for the upper and lower tones. Radius puts complex harmonic structures, bell-like tones, metallic textures, frequency shifting, soft tremolo, and bubbly phaser sounds at your fingertips.

In these hands, this pedal shows itself to set a new standard for ring-mod pedals (that are not really synth pedals with a ring-mod function). This is an elaborately specified ring-mod pedal, but clearly a ring-modulation pedal. Whatever its place in the market, it clearly has a lot of cool stuff going on, and be coaxed into ear-bending sounds. Red Panda has a winning way with not-standard pedals for creative players.

The last band that I can recall someone using a ring mod successfully, was Incubus. With enough fiddling during a looper pedal playing or on a synthesizer arpeggiating, one can find some pretty sweet spots.

God gifted guys like Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran the ability to sit and play with knobs and buttons that make weird sounds for the gazillions of hours that it takes to find, and document, something cool, something inspiring, something useful. God did NOT gift me with that ability. That pedal would be used for likely 60 minutes and then I would have to take 2 Tylenol and sleep for at minimum 6 hours. It would never be used by me again. Been there, not going back. Sometimes the only tool that can fix it really is a hammer.

Usually on Red Panda pedals, the centre jack is for exp pedal and you would use the web editor to set it up. Usually 6 to 8 choices knowing RP

Do both..the Spice of Life!!I have the Radius and it's absolutely amazing..The Modulation options bring it to a whole different level...and remember if you run in stereo like I do the Radius is stereo..No stereo sounding effects come from it but they will come in a firmware update...

These are cool sounds, the kind of stuff that Jeff Beck would have used in his Wired days. But honestly I've never seen a practical use for a ring modulator. It's not exactly something one would keep on their pedal board.

Not everyone is practical.Depends what type of music you do..I mostly do experimental ambient stuff so I've no intentions of keeping it off my board..it's a magical pedal that I'm having a blast with and getting nearly an infinite amount of sounds and textures with...
