Listen to that ridiculous bass line, especially during the 2nd verse. Who else would do that? She always throws in a very unique and impressive bass line that is so much fun to listen to. And it's always very heavy, chunky and funky. Every time I listen to their song I discover something new and interesting. Not many bands have done that. So good.

This performance was the replacement for their much anticipated serving at Budokan, which was cancelled. It was a live stream, which was presented in the wee hours of the morning in my part of the world. Before they started "About Us", Saiki came out a spoke for several minutes. She was very somber and was taking a long time, like she was choosing her words very carefully. Not understanding Japanese, I wondered if the band was breaking up or something. Yes, the Jim Beam has been there a long time. There is a video from one of their performances that MISA even shares a bit of her whiskey with a fan in the front row, all smiles! Not many bands appreciate their fans as much as Band-Maid!

MISA always has a bottle of something, whether it's whiskey or beer. Just like Akane has a big appetite for food, MISA's motto is "Alcohol is necessary". Before she signed her name just MISA, for a while she used to sign it Misa Laphroaig. She loves a good Scotch. It's probably just much easier to find a small Jim Beam. These days it's usually beer. Less hangovers.

You were right about the bottle; it was on Misa's amp. That was her preferred stage drink during concerts. She has switched to beer for her stage drink now.

Misa is the quintessential bass player - she _looks_ like a bass player (has the broad shoulders to hang that heavy instrument from), she has the typical reserved personality that so many greats do (John Entwhistle, John Paul Jones, John Deacon - you get the idea).

About time you spotted the Jim Beam Lol! Virtually every live concert you have watched there has been a bottle of Jim Beam on MISA's amp or near it. Due to shyness she had a habit of drinking on stage - and she drank the Jim Beam neat. Nowadays the JB is more a stage prop or a tradition though as MISA mostly drinks beer on stage now, and not much at that. Time to worry is the few occasions Kanami 'steals' MISA's whiskey or beer on stage and has a drink. Kanami then tends to get a bit wild lol! "About Us" is the the second song in what some of us call the "Smile" trilogy - love letters to their fans (all have the word smile in the lyrics or title). First was "Smile" an album track about the band watching the fans smile from their vantage point on stage. Second was "About Us" about the band and fans being apart during covid. And third is "Memorable" about the band feeling loved by their fans. - written on their tour bus while touring the US.

THE song that caused teary eyes for pretty much all of us when they released and performed it. During the livestream of this concert, this part broke me mercilessly. And still does on some days today. Especially when you watch the entire show that 'Daydreaming' had in store immediately afterwards, just to make sure the floodgates are definitely being opened. :) At the time, I already thought I couldn't love these ladies any more. I HATE THIS SONG...... lol. "About Us" is a song I avoid coz it nearly/always brings out the waterworks. Knowing why they wrote it, during the time they wrote it and their Deliverance of their intent...... it is their "Most brazzen T/20 six...... if you know Cricket you'll know what I mean. I avoid THIS SONG AT ALL COSTS, However, I have "About Us" on my "Chill playlist" so that my "musically passive friends" have SOME kind of exposure to Band-Maid.. You know that their is an unofficial "Smile Trilogy" amongst some of us Maidiacs......1, is ... "Smile", 2. is "About Us" and 3, is "Memorable". Directly from the Band to the fans. all 3 are mellow and you might cry.
