"Indian War Veterans: Memories of Army Life and Campaigns in the West, 1864-1898" Jerome Greene states that, "upon reentering the canyon there were dead Indians everywhere." #HistoricJustice

I hope to be covering what evidence of the battle has been discovered from the last archaeological survey which was quite extensive in the near future. Artifacts left on the battlefield will never tell the whole truth of the human experience but will give us some sense of how extensive the battle was.

The Apache or Sioux didn't have anything on the Comanche. They never had friends and considered everyone their enemy. The boldest Native Americans in North America by far. They didn't have "The Lords of the Southern Plains" written on their flag for no reason.

I suspect it will be in 2024. Good question and I will follow up with some of the principals who made the last one happen.

One of the most impressive military victories in US history. Col. McKenzie was among the best of Soldiers.

I agree. But it is known that he became so disturbed by the way the native people were being treated as a result of his campaigns and the US government that he eventually became institutionalized and passed away well before old age.

It wasn't a very impressive victory, the Quahados had absolutely no chance because they were surprised and fled.

@@stephenkwas3280 Which is exactly why it was impressive, as the combined Comanche/Kiowa/Southern Cheyenne villages heavily outnumbered Mackenzie.

great video. But let's be totally honest, Both sides were vicious and killed women, children and old folks, through this decades long conflict. I agree the N.A. s got the short end of the stick.
