Sounds pretty dumb what this superman thought “I’ve created a utopia but they have no purpose” bro what? He literally ended all crime, injustice and poverty. And he’d rather people suffer and get killed by serial murderers and a multitude of other horrible things happen to them so they are “free”? If he wanted people to be freer, just let them be. Doesn’t mean you have to bring crime back. Regardless, I would accept a dictatorship 110% if they were TRULY capable of creating an actual flawless utopia Honestly so fucking stupid. I haven’t read the comic but I’m just going off of what this video said. I kinda feel like this comic was an example of how communism was supposed to work. Communism was suppose to be everyone helping each other and not themselves, while the big government took control of everything. Problem is that everyone looks out for themselves mostly, including the people in power. The people in power we’re supposed to take complete control until they felt that society was self sustaining and then step down….obviously no one really stepped down lol. Superman did and everyone thrived moving forward.
@yert5035 Жыл бұрын
communism is a stateless classless society. superman being a dictator by definition means he isn't communist. communism requires socialism which is worker ownership. worker ownership would expand democracy to the workplace. communism is inherently democratic. Russia never had worker ownership and in fact did the opposite by rampantly privatizing. superman's communism is just communism in name only just like Stalin's communism. North Korea calls itself a democracy..... the comic writers had no idea what communism actually is due to the redscare, newspeak, and not looking it up.

In this story though the short doesn’t talk about how Superman re-educates criminals and political opponents by technologically lobotomizing them. @@EsotericDichotomy So do the workers do not seize the means of production? Dont forget he is also related to luthor cause he was sent back in time and is the son of one of luthors descendent. Earth was gonna be destroyed in same manor as krypton but in order to save his kid and prevent the destruction of the planet he sends the kid back in time which under a yellow sun gives him powers. So basically red son superman is a descendent of luthor and the comic is essentially a fight between which luthor can take over the world first. Still an amazing comic.

I like this concept. We often believe that we truly want all these items in life when what we really want is the struggle to obtain them. When things come free they have no value and we feel compelled to search for what isn’t free. I live in a rural area, just going to the movies is an hour drive away. People always say that they’d hate to be so far from things. I’ve lived in cities and far from cities. When I’m somewhere rural I find that I enjoy things more as I have to put more effort into them. Long drives to the movies with friends we’re my favorite. Were the state to provide us with all we’re after I think we’d devolve into even more chaos as we seek another purpose to struggle for.

This is why Superman doesn’t ‘do more’, or at the very least, one of the major reasons. If he used his powers, technology and knowledge to do everything for the sake of the Human race, Humanity would be devoid of a purpose and personal progress and growth. It’s the same reason why our gods do not descend or intervene, because Humans would have no room to build and become more, making life stagnant and possibly even boring. Struggle is an essential part of Human growth. Without failure or something to stumble on, we’d have no need to get up on our own and learn. After all, Superman’s true purpose isn’t just to save lives, combat threats and give hope, he’s also here to inspire our inner champions and spread that hope around.
