Thats true Yankee fans boo'd Judge lol. Talk about a freak Judge is it he may break his own homerun record. The only thing i like about the Yankees is Judge a decent guy as well but i enjoy his swings and misses against Boston the Yankees ae becoming snake bit with Boston we're really in their heads. What is even more enjoyable is the Yankees started their 5 and 15 slide when Boston took the series in Fenway.

Tyler Anderson of the Angels is probably the best target for SP. He's not exciting because he doesn't rack up K's, but he was in the Cy Young hunt two years ago and is pitching at a high level again this year for a bad team. Unlike Crochet, he has a history of eating innings. And he likely won't require Roman Anthony in return.

@@redseatradio honestly how much worse can it get? The only thing keeping Sox fans from burning down the house is the fact they are still managing an decent season but making only the moves above "should" be enough to end with a decent season and finishing 3rd is probably good enough for fans and ownership until next year where I think they will be under much more pressure but even then they will have the built in excuses of prospects coming up and Gio coming back.

When i think of Grissom i think about Sale winning the Cy Young Award he's 11 and 3 with an ERA under 3.00 and one of his losses was a 1 to 0 shutout Sale pitched 7 innings gave up 1 run and struck out a ton of hitters. I argued like crazy over the Sale trade people told me i was crazy when i said Sale would have a big season and where is Grisson is he going to be another O'neil injury prone? As good as O'neil is in the field and at the plate a half season isn't enough hopefull O'neil can play 140 games. I;m a little concerned over Casas fracturing his rib just swinging the bat thats how hard his swings are. Will it happen again will it take some power out of his swing. I hate being negative bbut its a concern Cora said he was 75% after 25 swings he probably won't be back until early to mid August but he'll be well rested and strong and he may be the key to post season. I know i talk to much old folk are like that lol. I go back to Teds last season in left field.

I agree Henry won't allow anything that costs money or gives up the future. I think he's feeling justified in the inaction. Given some of the bad trades made by the Sox in the past I always feel safer not trading but no risk no gain. This time of year is tough for me. They have the day off today. Oakland for three, KC for three. Hopefully they can get to the All Star Game to rest that bullpen. Longer term we have to see what Mata can bring, get Martin back, and Liam Hendricks. I do not think the Sox need to add to the bullpen as much as they need a legit starter. Criswell and Winckowski are solid depth pieces, but cannot go deep enough into games to save the bullpen over the long haul. Adding a legit MLB starter sooner than later will have the biggest impact to the team’s chances. I keep hearing about a temporary short stop, but if I cannot have it all I would prefer they get a right hand bat who can platoon with Yoshida and play corner infield to give Devers and eventually Cases a break as needed. Also would be nice to get a healthy Grissom, and get him into the flow so that down the stretch there are no holes in the line up or defensively.

Preface this with love the podcast and listen every day! Three reasons why the Sox aren’t significant buyers before the deadline: 1. Story $27M. 2. Giolito $19M. 3. Sale $10M. Numbers may be off a little bit but there’s $56M in dead money. The starter we need is 11-3 and pitching in Atlanta on the All Star team! But who could have predicted that based on the last4 years. Expect the Sox to pick up a 4 or 5 starter in the final contract year for a 15 - 20 prospect. I think we gotta root for what we got which is a young, fun sometimes frustrating team. Thanks!!

Yeah Corbin your totally right it would be appalling if John Henry overlooks being a buyer before the deadline. If he weighs his decision based on the talent in triple A and don’t take advantage of MLB players who are turn key ready that could end up being drastic. The two needs are to add to the middle of the line up, and to add starting Pitching to the rotation, and add 1/2 good relief Pitchers. ❤

I just felt Yoshida was going to come through. He’s starting to hit the ball well and felt due for a home run. He’s a lefty in Yankee Stadium facing a struggling closer. My gut is not always right, but it fortunately was here. Devers being clutch in Yankee Stadium is as automatic and ho hum as Big Papi hitting a walkoff. A good thing. Rafaella really made me smile this weekend. Career performance from Kutter Crawford. Agreed Boston needs a good 4 or 5 starter and I really do hope Henry invests just a little further in this team. Because of his player option at 30 mil next year,it makes even more sense that Blake will pick it up ensuring that we can get him and not have to give up a ton for him. I've been in the "wait and see" camp, and the team is playing well. They're hungry to get to the postseason. You mentioned how some pitchers are reaching unknown territory with their innings pitched, and that includes all-star Tanner Houck. So, adding to the pitching staff (rotation and bullpen) could be huge. The problem is with John Henry as the owner, I don't know if we should expect any additions to be made. He may already consider Casas returning from injury as the big "deadline" move.

Valdez is a liability on defense. He should be sent down or traded. We need upgrades at shortstop and 2nd base, but they could do that internally with Sogard and Yorke. Bello has to do a good job going forward and that should be banked on. I would not be surprised if Cedanne ended up rookie of the year. Curious to see how Wilyer adapts and how fast. This team has a lot going on. Definitely buy. Casas is going to rake but I'm curious about Grissom too. Still don't know what he will bring. I don't think he can take the job from Hamilton though. I think its a mistake to trade prospects for major leaguers this season. I do think they should be serious suitors for a free agent or two. That doesn’t help this season, but I don’t think you get anxious just because they have the third wild card in early july. I might bring up Mayer and Teel for a cup of coffee right now. If they respond you’re feeling pretty good about things. The Red Sox have good position prospects, but not too many pitchers. This has to change dramatically. The draft needs to swing over to pitching. I would draft based on need. This idea of taking the best player available has a farm system full of short stops. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing if they’re open to switching or learning another position. Casas will be coming back soon. I’m going to leave him at worster as long as it takes to see him mashing. Not bringing him back to suck for a month. Dude, you’re going out on a limb here. What kind of blush color will you be if the Red Sox lose 8 out of the next 12 games and Kansas City moves into that third wild card? You’re young. Emotional. Haven’t got a keen eye yet. If you can trade Masataka and Abreu for a pitcher or two I might get more excited. Move Devers to DH. Bogaerts started as a 3rd baseman for the Sox. Maybe Mayer will do the same. Story will be back possibly if they make the playoffs? You New Englanders need to chill out. I was once a Cape Codder. If this team is still winning 2 out of 3 in August I’d say pour one for me too, but this is what the Red Sox do: get you pumped before the All star break and then go .500 or a hair better or worse the rest of season. This isn’t 2018 or they’d already have 60+ wins. Henry is a shrewd owner. Stop insulting the man. He’s won big and you’ve seen more WS than your grandfather did at your age.

What they should do and will do are two complete different things Last year on July 17 they were 51-44. 9 games back and within the wild card race Bloom should have bought didn’t or was not allowed to and they fell apart the last 2 months - so if ownership does not allow them to spend which is what I fear will happen and cause this team to finish next to last again

Sox need to move Jordan up and see if he needs rule 5 protection. They lost Ryan Fernandez to Saint Louis last year and a 1.99 era in the bull pen for 40 innings and it may look worse by the end of the year because he's pitched much much better as the season progressed. I won't post # here because it's an embarrassing loss. Just check it out. The Sox have 60 players in the minors that are eligible for rule 5. Granted not all are good enough to get plucked but if you scout the names too many are. I imagine the upper management had different plans for the second half..now they are between a rock and a hard place. Ah the problems with having all your eggs in the minors basket. Play them, trade them or lose them.

Getting Henry on board may be a problem they definitely could use another starter but i believe as a whole this team is playoff bound. I don't mean Devers i'm talking about the rookie lol.

The red seat is a lie bro. There’s no way Ted Williams hit a ball that far on the fly during the Deadball era with inferior bats and even if he did, that’s still not the furthest home run ever hit a Fenway Park Manny Ramirez hit on on the six lane of the mass pike estimated at the time to be something like 585 feet. He actually hit two minute shots over 550 feet in a one week. That year shattered one of the lights above the monster and the ball is still rising. If he did that in the stat cast era that ball was close to 600 feet and he hit two or three balls on the mass pike in his career, but one was on the southbound lane all the way across the first four lanes onto the six lane, I’m pretty sure Don or cello said that it was estimated at 580 feet 585 feet something like that which would make his home run further than Babe Ruth’s bullshit 575. There’s no way Babe Ruth ever came close to 550 feet never mind 575 feet, I think Babe Ruth hit a ball 475 feet and they just over exaggerated it to build some mythical status around him. The guy was fat and out of shape. He was an alcoholic and he smokes cigars. There’s no way he’s hitting a ball anywhere near 500 feet never mind 575 feet that is bullshit, Manny Ramirez hit the farthest home run in major-league baseball history on the sixth lane of the mass pike. If it wasn’t that one, it was the one that shattered the lightbulb above the monster, while the ball was still rising.

The Sox starting pitching is thin, with their top starters at their career-highs in innings pitched. Crochet makes no sense, since the Sox would have to pay a high price and then have to limit HIS innings. Flaherty of the Tigers has had 2 injections in the past 3 weeks for his back... PASS. That leaves middle of the rotation starters like Ty Anderson (Angels), Zach Eflin (Rays), Erick Fedde (ChiSox). Any of this trio can eat some innings, but none of them are going to make the Sox a much better playoff team. So, they should try to buy, but not at the expense of their top 4-5 prospects. So, they may not be able to make a deal. Nick Yorke and Matt Lugo for either of Anderson, Fedde or Eflin is the most I'd offer.

@@ryanlewis8466 At some point the Sox are going to fish or cut bait with all their middle infielder prospects. Kristian Campbell, also a 2B was Eastern League player of the month. Meidroth is close to .850 OPS in AAA. Marcelo Mayer is heir apparent to the SS positon, once Story's contract is up after 2026. And they believe that V Grissom will produce once he has good health. Yorke is very expendable.

Corbin! Ole pal. This team is literally an Eovaldi or Crochet away from a big run possibly this September and October. The pieces sre falling into place and this team wasn't even fully healthy all season. Casas is still out, Macho missed time, Whitlock was gone early, Giolito didn't even get to throw one pitch on the 2024 regular season, and we lost Trevor Story early on. Imagine if this team was at full strength. I prefer Wink in the pen over starting period. I'm glad Ver-Dookie didn't get the last laugh and is back to reality... Being a bum. Ver-Dookie was, is, and always will be trash. Nice .240 batting average dork. I enjoyed the two victories over the weekend. Nothing was sweeter than choking them on Friday night. Haha.
