So now I've started binge-watching this deleted clip - your reaction is the third one I've already seen. Other commentators had pointed out that this fireside story by Henry makes Alex's lines later where he tells Henry he can continue to protect his heart and nothing will ever happen make more sense.

Watching you from watching the movie the first time not knowing anything about it, to seeing you become a super fan is really amazing and heartwarming! This scene was so 😭😭 But I understand why they cut it. It would've been placed awkwardly between Alex's confession and storming the palace. Henry is basically confessing to Alex in the clip. I'm happy we got it as a deleted scene

As much as I'd like a 3 hour version, especially because the cornetto scene should have been kept in the movie!!, there isn't one - at least so says the director in an interview. There are always scenes filmed that get cut from the final version of movies, so hopefully we'll see a couple more yet 🤞

Yes absolutely love R,W&RB so much. I've ready the book and love it but It's Nick's & Taylor's performances that put the movie ahead for me. There is one scene from the book I think they could and should have put in the movie. It's the scene where Henry's mom confronted the Queen! They could have gotten a high caliber actress to play the part. I mean imagine if say Olivia Coleman played her and in a scene with Stephen Fry as the King! Would have been a Masterclass in acting!

I hate to burst folk's dreams, but the "three hour cut" myth came from someone misinterpreting the term "assembly cut", which is the very very first assembly of every single scene together, and it almost always gets cut 1/3 to 1/2 length for the movie. In an interview with Teen Vogue with Matthew Lopez: _TV: So I read that you had to cut a lot from the film - tell me, is there actually a three-hour cut?_ _ML: Now this, alright. This has gotten a little out of hand. I need to set the record straight here. There was never a three-hour cut of this film. What I said to somebody - now I deeply regret saying it (laughs) - was the assembly of this film was about 2 hours and 45 minutes. But an assembly of a film, anyone who’s ever worked on a movie will tell you, an assembly is not a cut. An assembly is quite literally everything that’s in the script that was shot, strung together in order. And that first assembly came to about 2 hours and 45 minutes. I wish it were true, but Amazon isn't hoarding a longer version. I personally think they're being pretty awesome releasing the cut scenes, but I'm sure they know they have us on the proverbial hook and we're hungry for anything! I've read Matthew intended this scene to be between Alex' chat with his dad in the morning and the dock scene where Henry panics. He knew if he kept this scene, it'd be a little confusing since Henry is still not ready for a love confession at the dock and after that speech at the bonfire, it would make maybe little sense for most people.

so this scene is a reinterpretation of the email and is not the same context. in this, Alex is probing Henry whether he's allowed to love him. Henry basically says yes, but then has a panic attack when Alex wants to. Henry murders Alex through the heart at the worst possible time. it's so fucking heartbreaking for Alex to be so completely blindsided. in the book, this story was much more informative and not an ask of Henry whether Alex is allowed to love him. this scene makes everything in the storming of the castle make more sense.

Henry's fairy tale to Alex in this scene is really the plot of the whole movie beautifully mythologized and as such might fit awkwardly between Alex's scene with his father and his scene with Henry on the raft. However, it is so central to the story that when the movie is released, this should be included as a deleted scene.
