Idk why people are hating this. 😭 So far, it looks so similar to the book and I love it, except for a few details (like queen being king). The casting looks very promising and exactly how I pictured they would look like, and the story looks amazing. I’m eagerly waiting the release.

Apparently they changed it from a queen to a king so it wouldn't be too similar to the current royal family. Aaaaaaaand then Elizabeth went and died. Oops. (

It seems like the king is going to be a little different from the queen. I think in the movie what the queen did is going to come more from Philip.

You do get the irony of Stephen Frye playing a straight king being so upset about his gay son? Right?

They did that because of the Queen of Englands passing💁♀️

They had to change it to not disrespect the monarchy but the movie was made before the queens passing so it's ironic

Well I have to admit, I have viewed so the different trailers of this... and today bought the book! I figured if I am going to view it I will as other have the advantage of knowing more about what I'm viewing.

I almost bought it but saw that the new editions are self-censored by the author because there were references to Harry Potter. So, I lost interest in reading it.
@LaManelle11 ай бұрын
@@someinteresting as the author of the book she is 100% within her right to edit the story however she pleases and for ever reason she finds is justified. I've read that book 5 times and there is an ever so brief mention of a Hogwart's house, it's not like it's a whole page or it changes anything to the progress of the story. It could have been anything, changing a song reference to a new song that wasn't out when it was written that she finds fits the bill more or removing the mention of a celebrity that did something illegeal and she no longer find is a model to follow. It's her creative baby, she does what she wants with it.

I saw the trailer and bought the book, 3\4 of the way through. So good!! There are about 3 references to HP in my copy, it did seem a little out of place when everything else is so delightfully pro LGBTQ+. Lots of places she could have censored herself, references to British and American history just one example. Taking out the HP references is a nice way to support and honour the Trans community. Many authors wouldn't have bothered and many publishers would have said save the money. Knowing she did this makes me like her even more. It's a fun, smart and informative book that helps you see an alternative world (in terms of leadership) that is both inspiring and joyful. Read it. Really, you're missing out.

@@thepointedhat I bought the 2019 release issue copy, not sure if that means anything more than the printing. When in the store I was surprised to be asked which I was looking for, the original or the movie release artwork cover or the Indigo release. When I read I will have to note if the HP comments have been edited out.

Heyyy if it's not too late, I would really recommend reading the book AFTER watching the movie. The movie's coming on Prime, so you can always watch it multiple times. But if you read the book first, I have a feeling you'll be massively disappointed with the movie, because they've changed a LOT of the good parts. So maybe read the book after?

They've cut her off. Frankly, she didn't have the beefiest role in the book either and whatever she did didn't make the story progress much, she mostly was a soundboard for Alex to bounce his thoughts on, which Nora can do as well. As for Nora, with the whole bisexual conversation and hacking has an active role that makes the story progress. I can see what they'd keep just her.

Has anyone noticed they do not show any clips from the overly political parts of the movie that really bog it down with liberal cliche politics making it tedious at times. It becomes a stupid liberal fantasy instead of a fun totally romantic comedy. Actually making it a little bit "Hallmark" would have helped.
