The story is too long for a film they’d have to cut so many good parts out. The slow burn is the best bit and that would be lost in a 2-hour movie. It needs to be a mini-series like Good Omens with 6 episodes each an hour-long.

I do agree. In fact, I think most good books should be adapted as mini-series. Like Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, or And then there were none by Agatha Christie - giving a book 5-6 hours to develop is plenty and ensures that there will be space for everything so the final product really makes sense!

I felt SO bad for Henry the whole time. Tiernan probably didn't pay too much attention to that but the Royal family was a bit too close for comfort too. A strict grandmother on the throne, basically non-existent mother, two brothers of which the younger one is not exactly perfectly behaved... it's pretty much the current Royal family's story. Even Henry's name was so close to Harry's that it was obvious. Remember what Harry did? Married an American. Was his family happy when he decided to move out and stop being a prince - not particularly. So when I was reading it, my heart broke for Henry. Because he didn't choose his family and he couldn't even choose his life. Royals cannot just switch majors and go study law instead of going into politics. They don't have the option of waking up and not being a public figure any more. Or else they risk the kind of scandal Harry is going through right now. I sincerely hope that if one of Kate's children turns out LGBTQ+, nobody will try to hide it. I am not sure that will be the case, though. Bloodlines can be tricky and tradition is very difficult to change... So yes, I loved Henry too and I cried for him and for his struggle. It was all very realistic and yet very hopeful

I just finished reading this book and I absolutely loved it. It was so great to see so much of their relationship (The emails (omg I died several times reading them because they were so honest and raw and cute), their little rendezvous, secret meeting). And I absolutely loved the supportive site characters. I love when we have those a book. And I really liked their inner conflict. Alex about his future and his position in the world. And for Henry the same. And how they come to terms with change. I think there is so much more about this book that I adore but I l stop here. Since I’m neither from the UK nor from the USA I don’t really know that much about their political system, but it was interesting to read about it, even when I didn’t always fully understood what was happening.

I red this book on a whim and omg I loved it soooo much. The e-mails between Alex and Henry made me laugh, cry and melt. It speaks for the authors talent that she can write the things she does without making it sound cheesy but heartfelt. That scene in Henry's bedroom where Alex tells him to make him leave was heart-wrenching. I cried so bad but between sobs it made me laugh.

While I was reading it, I also thought a few times "this would look so great in a movie"! Like the first kiss scene in the garden - I really wanted to see it! I wanted to see what the garden looked like! It gave me some "The fault in our stars" (the movie, not the book) vibes with all the travel and the visiting places. I also loved how open Alex was to the whole process. How he never felt "wrong" or "broken", how he rationally asked the question "Am I attracted to him?" and when the answer was yes, he was just like "Well, that makes sense then" :D I sometimes question my own sexuality and then realise I am being silly. He didn't do that. I also liked the dynamic between his sister and Nora and how ambiguous it was at times. It was fun to see and wonder and not get to know everything that went on behind closed doors :D To be honest, I was a bit surprised at the amount of LGBTQ+ characters in the book - it was definitely not a representative sample :D I enjoyed it even more because of that - we don't get enough representation in mainstream media so too much every once in a while is just right.

I LOVED it. Nothing else to say. I agree with everything you said in the video, like the sex scenes, the lenght of the chapters, the third person and all. Even if it's a story that most would describe as "too wonderful to be true", it worked. Seeing how Alex is open to explore his sexuality and all the OPENNESS of this book was awesome. I also loved the fact that we were able to see a lot about Alex and Henry's relationship, growing and becoming "forever" (quote intended ;), all their moments of love, of sharing and even of sex, that created a portrait for what an actual relationship is, whereas usually in rom-coms we just see these two characters who fall for each other and are instantly super in love, when suddenly something happens and their relationship fall apart without letting the reader be able to "taste" and understand the relationship itself. Then the characters make up, kiss, and the book ends. Not in RW&RB, that created the perfect outline of their relationship. I'm SO in love with Red, White and Royal Blue. PS: just one thing about the cover. If I were in the shoes of a closeted guy, I would never be able to take this book home (pink cover with two boys), but this is just something that Adam Silvera made me think in a recent IG live he did about More Happy Than Not.

okay first of all i think this would work really well as a mini-series, as each chapter would work well as being an episode each and the fact that it takes place over a year with so much character development (especially Alex's perception of Henry). Plus the fact that all the characters are so amazing I would hate to see one sidelined! So as I read this book over a week, (despite it being very hard) only one chapter at a time and during a busy time in my life, I almost the journey we went through with this book. The aspects it had. Alex's childhood. Henry's childhood and his dad's passing. The rivalry. The rivalry-turned friendship banter. The "haha I'm definitely not obviously bi and in love with Henry" moments. The bisexual awakening. The supportive friends and family. The White House Trio. The physically-charged stuff. The emotionally charged stuff. The Super Six. The being in love. The scandal. The royal family. The politics. Alex's dreams. Henry's dreams. The emails. Zahra trying to keep her shit together. The election. The coming out. The pride. The... everything. Like I can't believe that it was all one book. I can't believe that the Alex who toppled over a royal wedding cake is just four hundred pages before Alex showing his boyfriend-but-let's-be-honest-soon-to-be-husband his childhood home. Like what a fucking journey. I'm just- it's amazing. Fuck.

SAAAAAME!!! Gosh, I love this book so much and agree with everything you just said. I made the effort to charge my kindle and update my amazon payment info immediately after seeing Becky Albertally’s insta post about it back in May, not sure what pushed me to do it but BOY, do I not regret it. Read it in three or four days while watching over lambing sheep in the middle of the night, tired and delirious, it was great. I had to stop a few times to cry over the fact that this story isn’t reality and president Claremont doesn’t actually exist (I’m not even American). I have already also bought the audiobook, just so I can definitely always go back to this book when I need it. All these characters were so wonderful and beautifully written, I just wanna be friends with them. I also feel like I understand the vibe of American politics a tad better now, even though some of that politics talk sounded like pure alien to me. Ok, I’ll stop now. All hail queen Casey McQuiston. That’s all. Thanks for a great video Tiernan, you rock xx

I smiled so much due to how much the characters are so lovable. I wanted to be in the White House with Alex, June, and Nora. I wanted to be at the karaoke bar with the crew singing “Don’t Stop Me Now”. I loved reading this and want more of it. I wouldn’t mind if a sequel happens where we now see Alex and Henry continuing to develop their relationship but in the setting we left them in. I think a tv series would do the book so much more than a movie so we can really see those character developments. I want to put it out there that Rashida Jones would be great as Zahra.

Hi there. I really enjoyed this book. I read it from the end of December through till the beginning of January. Less than two weeks afterwards comes the news that Prince Harry and Meghan want to leave the Royal Family, and become part time royals. The. Des sort of echoed, in a straight way, the relationship between Alex and Henry. Perhaps it is just me thinking this. With gay marriage signed into law in the UK, it would be interesting to see Royal ‘come out’!

And I was so surprised by it because I'm 1. totally loathing politics (especially in my home country right now) and didn't know much about the US political system before going into this, so saying it was a steep learning curve would be a MAJOR understatement 2. I'm a sex-repulsed asexual, so basically anything in books that is more than cut-to-black makes me super uncomfortable, sometimes slightly nauseous. I wrote a review about RWRB for my university's newspaper and I absolutely know how you feel with "I don't want to give too much away" since I absolutely adored this book and wish I could experience it all again for the first time. It's just such a magical experience where I felt ALL of the feelings. Especially since I was fresh out of a breakup as I started reading it. Long story short, I want my own Prince Henry and that is that.

Great book and it seems like it is actually is gonna be a movie - I know not everyone will agree but I think it's possible for it to be a movie instead of a limited series or something if it stays really focused on Alex and Henry and maybe montages some of the times they meet up in the middle of the book. This might be controversial but I don't think Luna needs to be a character in the movie for it to work. But yes, it is a great book and I got through the second half of it in one day, which is pretty rare for me.

so now that the book is a movie, what do you think? it really could have been made as a series so it wasn't so choppy especially in the end but i thought they did a really good job and i can really hear Nick Galitizine's voice as Henry especially

A bit late to the party but this book is like one of my very favourites now. The way Alex realised he was bi was so relatable to me and my sexuality, and it was just so funny. Also I’m British and all the little British hints cracked me up - like yes of course the prince of England loves Jaffa cakes, who tf wouldn’t??

I loved this book so much. I loved Amex wit and his humour and I loved Henry's seriousness but especially when the true Henry showed. And I love the gay panic. I just loved it. Absorbing, hilarious, tender, sexy, Christina Lauren just said it all

I love this book so much I literally read it in less than a day. It was especially an interesting read after the real 2020 election lol Edit: I also loved how much of just Alex and Henry's relationship they gave us. I was expecting to have to go read domestic fluff/everything is fine fics or something like that after reading but we got the domestic fluff built in.

I feel sorry for every person in my life because they will now have to deal with me shoving this amazing masterpiece of a book down their throats until the end of time. Anybody who criticises it to my face is risking their life (not joking).

fun story about this AMAZING book: i recommended it during to my advisory at school (my teachers pretty chill, she recommended bridgerton to a bunch of 8th graders lol) and SHE HAD READ IT. INSTANT embarrassment!!!! My mind immediately went back to every single smutty scene with the knowledge that my teacher had read the exact same ones and knew that i had too...
