Red Winged Blackbird Nest

While fishing in one of our ponds, my husband found this nest. The fish weren't all that interesting, so he decided to try some wildlife photography. He used our GoPro and a handheld HD camera mounted on a small tripod. The results are pretty amazing.

I have found two of these lovely nests by the lake near my yard. I'm watching this video because I can hear the chirping babies and I'm curious to see what they look like. Papa and Mama bird keep a close vigil and I don't want to stress them out by hovering too close. Papa is pretty agressive and will swoop over my head.

AMAZING and such a CLEAR video of mom and dad feeding their babies! I LOVE this bird species!! When I hear the male sing his familiar song, I KNOW Spring is here! :-)

Waste that would direct predators to the nest.

i have them in my bird shed do you know when its breeding season for them :)

These birds migrate for the winter and come back in early Spring and LOVE nesting in marshlands and near ponds, especially with cattails around, where they can nest. I'm in east-central Pennsylvania and the mailes come back first to claim territories and you hear their familiar "Che--WEE" call sometime in later February or early March.

They breed in the Spring starting probably by April or early May.
