In this video I take both of these guns out at a longer distance - 50 meters. Which one do you think groups best out of the two? Take care! Chris

Excellent video again Chris. I now own the Air Arms 510 that you used and it is part of my coaching arsenal at Holbrook Farm Shooting. The first job will be to tune the trigger which is too heavy. This will undoubtably improve the accuracy. Perhaps a comparison video with my R10se?

Good to see this comparison, but you would expect a £2200 gun to be better than a £800 one. A better match would be a Wolverine against a 510 Regulated , closer maybe? I have a 510 Tench regulated Ultimate Sporter, and that is zeroed at 50yds , where I usually shoot. It can produce ragged 1 hole groups at 50 yds with FX heavies (wind dependant) and with a better shooter than I. Keep up the good content!

Dunno what to say really , its well documented of what I think about accuracy testing @ 50yrs outside , lot of variables to consider . It must be said though , the redwolf does SEEM to have the edge on average as far as accuracy goes , nevertheless , the S510 is predominantly an hunting gun , and I bet not a lot of hunters would chance a shot @ 50mtrs / yrds on live quarry , of course there are hunters out there that DO go out to those ranges , I'd guess these guys ( gals ) hunt regularly and are competent . So , that in mind ( as far as target shooting goes ) , would I put my Skoda Fabia up against my mates 700bhp Nissan Skyline in a drag race ... ? ... well actually I would , but id look a right tit if I'd placed money on myself .. To recap , is the Redwolf an hunting gun , well yeah , yeah it is , but would you cart a £2000 rifle around , risking dropping it in pig shit , or getting ragged about in woodland risking damaging that gorgeous stock ? Mmmm dunno about that ( unless you have more money then sense ) Is the S510 a target rifle , well yeah , yeah it is , but it aint gonna win the world bench rest championship .. but what it WILL do , is give an excellent account of itself on an HFT course .. ive seen it , and bettered a few redwolves too boot ... SO ... what's this all boil down too you ask .. and the ansewr is ... ..... ... you decide I'm having a beer

I guess it's down to perspective. I know there will be people who prefer the 510, I prefer the Red Wolf! I have certainly scratches on the stock too... I use it all the time!

@@southwestshooters True Chris .. very true .. Anyway , off too the range sunday , Mrs ain't had her CLX back ( trigger problem ) so im lending her my R10 , which hasn't been shot for a long while , probably 6 months plus .. think im gonna take my Brocock , and do some 6pfe ( 6.2 last time I chronoed it ) testing with different weight pellets , probably over 30mtrs ,...,, 35 - 40 is a bit too much .. that said , I had some lead free pellets delivered today JSB's 6.79grn , might give em a go out to the longer distances .. Must add though , did a bit of shooting on me 30mtr range at home ( garden ) with the Brocock , with its favoured Baracuda FT pellets , just under 10 grn , can't remember exactly .. full power 10 shot groups with mags , can just ( with a bit showing ) covered by a 5p , with single shot tray though , both 10 shot groups easily covered by a 5p ... now ... half power ( 9 ish pfe ) single shot tray only , 5 shots NOT so good , probably be covered with a 50p JUST .. oh , and a drop of about ( and I mean about , as I hadn't got a ruler to hand ) 1.5 inches ... right , down too 6pfe ( 6.2 ) 5 shots single shot tray , and a drop of around 2.5 inches a group , well I can't say group as 4 went through the same hole , what I mean by that is ONE hole , no cloverleaf hole , a perfect one pellet hole , amazed even me ( oh btw , they did actually go through as I counted the lead in the catcher) UNFORTUNATELY the 5th pellet had a mind of its own and landed about an inch away ... gutted .. absolutely gutted , wern't gonna shoot a fifth and risk spoil what WAS the perfect group , but I did ..

Hi Chris, I have an S400 and S510, and I often shoot 67 yard spinners from a front cushion rest at my target club, and can kneel 45 yards at my HFT club. Even for 67 yards I mag 10x and parallax at 20 yards, zeroed at 35 yards, I leave the scope like that because that's what I use for HFT.

James! That is seriously impressive. I would like to mention I know that these guns are capable of doing these things.... And for the record I love air arms guns too. Perhaps the Red Wolf just suits me better?

Sorry I'm not impressed at all with the way you compared these two wonderful guns ,I know you were being honest about your links with daystate, but imo I was not convinced what's so ever you gave the air arms a fair chance ,and of course the air arms isn't regulated. And just to be honest myself ,I don't own an air arms pcp ,I have two daystates ,and three air arms tx200's ,and a good few weihrauchs.
@southwestshooters2 жыл бұрын
That's fair enough, but I must respectfully disagree with you. I absolutely gave the Air Arms a fair chance, it was shot with the same pellets under the same conditions. It had an identical chance to that of the Red Wolf. The fact the Air Arms isn't regulated has nothing to do with it as it was shooting in its sweet spot.
@johnrichards54402 жыл бұрын
Respectively i disagree just because you use the same pellet in both guns accounts for nothing especially its accuracy ,and did you really know the exact sweet spot on that air arms s510 ? All it proofed to me was the daystate liked a certain pellet and that the air arms didn't ,it's my honest opinion, maybe I've got it all wrong ,have I missed something? ?
@southwestshooters2 жыл бұрын
@@johnrichards5440 no. I don't think you have missed anything. I know about the sweet spot as I had experience using the gun. I used two different pellets and the Red Wolf grouped better in both instances. I guess there could be a pellet that works better in the Air Arms.... But I didn't find it.
@johnrichards54402 жыл бұрын
Again not a fair comparison when your daystate uses a pellet that it obviously likes ,and the air arms possibly wasn't using its preferred pellet ,

@shawns2820 Жыл бұрын
You must have had the wrong pellets for that air arms. I have an old air arms S410, 22 caliber, using JSB 15.88 grains, 20 shots inside of a nickel, some touching the line on the outside, guess that makes it the size of a quarter, at 50 yds.That is one shot groundhogs at 50 yards all day long.

how much custom work has been done to the red wolf. was the S510 just out of the box? no custom work? not a fair comparison.

🤣🤣🤣some really good comments about this one.a fair bit irrelevant,such as comparison to each other? So let’s Chuck in the sub £400 rm8 which does group better than the air arms.on most rifles as we go up in price we pay for silly looking stocks etc…but you must have comparison! I’ve got a Mini Cooper,not expensive but put it in a lane and it beats a m3 purely on its ability to handle better..and my cars worth a fiver.these are showing the potential of these rifles….

Yes, it is worth trying AA Diabolo Field 4.52s and 4.51s (8.4) and JSB Exact Diabolo 4.52 (8.44). Finding the right pellet for your barrel is critical if you are regularly shooting out at 50/55yds. Die numbers too.
