This was a thing in the original Japanese version. He went from using mature words, to speaking like a countryside kid when they reach Cosmo Canyon. Also Red starts stumbling on what words he should use talking to Cloud at the start of Cosmo Canyon. Something mostly lost in translation.

Other differences include Cloud speaking very polite when under Sephiroths influence, however he still uses his normal pronoun Ore, the rude version of saying I. Usually it would just be his angst but while being controlled, it's like he's putting himself down. Spoilers but you can literally hear him having a more polite tone after grabbing the black materia off from Aerith in this game. Other times he's being polite is he echos one of the staffs politeness at the Gold Saucer which is actually a bit of a dickhead thing to do, and he gradually gets more polite with the highwind pilot till it gets ridiculous, going form いく to 行ってくれたまえ which I have never heard irl . Also Cloud and Tifa don't say Nandemonai for nevermind they said Doudemonai, Aerith notices this when she meets Cloud, but then also subtlety notices Tifa saying it. It's not a shit take, it's the literal original game 🙄

Somewhat, yes, but honestly, some of it is a combination of a stylistic choice, and that a lot of people have never actually stopped and looked at what wolves actually look like in their summer coat. Media basically ALWAYS used wolves in their lush winter coat because it just looks so much more like what people think of as a wolf, to the point that many folks see wolves in their light summer coat or in shed and assume they're emaciated or diseased. Nanaki is definitely way to lean and angular for that to be healty and renders for the OG FF7 can't tell you as much about the original intention, but if you go a few years later to FF8, you start to see leonine beasts like the Moombas with rather verbose joints, like ankles, knees and knuckle analogs. I'd call it a 50/50 stylistic choice to in-character malnourishment.

It is super jarring to hear him go from the cool voice to this. But when you put together that not only is it the exact same voice actor (Max Mittelman, who is awesome), that it is a reference to the japanese version of the original FF7, and that it is a coming of age story for Red XIII's character arc, it fixes up a lot of it. Just remember, both the deep and teenage voices are both by the guy said For Real!? about 50+ times.

Haven't played the remakes yet, but I am loving that they gave Cait Sith a proper accent fitting for the namesake. For those who somehow still don't know, Cait Sith is a take on the old scots and irish folklore of the Cat sidhe. Due to google knowing most people are looking for the character, not the lore; you'll just generally get stuff about Cait. Hence the little tip.

Yes, the Red XIII is a hell of a thing, but let's all appreciate that they made Bugenhagen's buck wild design translate with ANY grace to high fidelity graphics.

Honestly, I don’t think I can get use to this voice. I was use to the mature Red, even Advent Children had him in a mature voice. =/

I just watched the 2013 movie Riddick and has anybody else noticed that the weird dog-like creature in that movie kinda looks like Red XIII?! 😆

Look, I won't say I'm not more biased towards the deeper voice, and fair enough if you don't like how his real voice sounds, but I quickly warmed up to it in a manner of seconds because this has such precious bean energy. The original kinda pointed to that way anyways, albiet poorly due bad translation.
