The entire band is awesome. I found out years ago, practicing in a house where we had to keep the noise level down, that there's an art to playing in a less loud manner: the art of subtlety is no joke. I absolutely love Redd's jazzy, Western-swing meets chicken pickin' & hybrid picking, with hints of lap steel and pedal steel flourishes, giving the impression that there are two or three other band members! Everything I would ever aspire to play like! Like the sound of Heaven.

In the 80s Redd came to my town in Clinton Gregory's band. We opened for them at a club we played at frequently, and got to see Redd play in person. I play a Telecaster, and had won guitar player of the year here in Maine. I called him the "bus driver" because seeing him took me to school! We got to hang out between shows. He was very smart, funny and just a nice man. I learned a lot of great licks that day! As you can see here, he plays clean and very accurately, as well as creatively. He milks so many sounds out of his axe. Other than a tad of reverb, what you here is clean. Just awesome technique. Thank you for this video, it is great and so nice to see him play again!

Mike Bourque and Redd Volkaert are my two most favorite guitar smokers ever! Mike is the only one I have shared stage with many times. Maybe Redd will hit me up one day for some shuffles that swing.

Ich spiele seit gut 50 Jahren Gitarre, kann aber nicht annähernd so spielen wie Redd. Und er spielt diese tolle Gitarre auch meist noch während er singt! Sehr oft sehe ich mir seine Videos an.

Beautiful guitar playing, and great band balance. As someone mention in the comments, unless you play guitar, it's hard to realise how good the guitar playing is! Very nice performance from everyone!

Zac Child’s pointed out recently that Redd’s playing through a Shobud amplifier, they literally only made a handful of these and if anyone should own one it’s Redd, the true master of the clean Telecaster sound.

I was fortunate to see Red in Adelaide South Australia and was completely blown away by his awesome talent its great to see he is still playing the greatest guitar ever made and doing that quality country music he does so well. As a band I think a three piece has never sounded so good you are all very fortunate to be playing together I do hope it keeps going for a long time. 👏 👏👏

@@SimpleManGuitars1973 because austin has gotten outrageously expensive in the past 5 years. we were lucky to have him as long as we did. i'm happy to see he's got some great jam buddies in his new home.

I have been a subscriber of Guitar Player magazine for well over twenty years. I was an avid reader of it prior to subscribing... It is an absolute injustice and lack of insight that Redd has not been on the cover 7-15 times! He is an absolute genius and can play any style that he wants to (just search some of his videos - one of him even getting down on some heavy rock and roll with Ted Nugent, wielding a tele like it was a battle axe). He is absolutely one of my all time favorite players ever!!! God Bless Redd Volkaert!!!
