My neighbor is a big gossiper. She's home everyday and knows my routine. I don't condone to gossip and I do not trust people who I know gossip. The walls are thin so my neighbors upstairs, downstairs and next door are against me and gossiping about me constantly yet they don't confront me or talk to me and ask me for my side. I leave it all in God's hands. I trust he will do right by me.

Thank you yet again!!! I love that God's Word is truly a double edged sword... I stand convicted. May God continue to bless you for speaking truth in love. I need to watch this again a few more times and memorize the scripture passages you read to hide them in my heart.

So glad I found this. Recently went through this, but the worst part it was church leadership doing it. We ended up going to another church because of it. People were intentionally and maliciously being torn down and attacked. Trying to talk to them about what was happening made it worse.

I have trouble controlling myself when someone is sharing something bad that happened to them and then I want to relate to them and so I tell the story of how something similar happened to me. Then afterwards I realize I've just run that person down again, and even though I feel hard done by it or hurt by then, I still don't want to lower myself and I don't want the toxic event to have lowered me. So I'm getting better at this the more I think about it and listen to these things. Thank you.

Exactly what I needed! Thank you so much! Gossip is sharing morsels of negative information about someone who is not present to give their side of the story. The gossiper always presents their info as neutral, factual & objective. Proverbs 10:18--Do I want to be a fool? Do I want an associate or friend who is a fool? When has gossip ever produced righteousness? Lord, cover our mouths! Do not allow us to speak foolishness out of our own selfish minds. Wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy & good fruit, impartial & sincere. James certainly brings it in chapter 3. This is a touchy & vital subject as God will destroy the slanderer Ps 101:5

I’ve had my. Whole life pulled out from under me from gossip that was true but elaborated. I’ve been lashing out trying to defend myself. My love of 47 years was part of the problem but he’s sick with Parkinson’s LB dementia 💔 we decided to build a home his family didn’t approve so never even came to share our excitement! They took advantage of our stressful situation and took my husband 💔 I can’ hardly function anymore without my husband I miss him horribly because I’ve loved him so much since I was 14

Good point Jon bought up later about HS days (13 min in) ~ What we say in quiet secret to others, SHOUTS LOUDLY to the one we are speaking to ... ABOUT OURSELVES. We cannot be trusted. We are violators as counselors, advisors, and lawyers then, disqualified. The one we should seek when such things come up for wisdom (not sided votes of approval) is the Lord in prayer, He will reveal to us what is true and right.

I find it hard to differentiate gossip and normal conversation so I find myself just being shut mouth towards others so I don’t accidentally utter something connotatting gossip. Also with laughter I don’t laugh at a lot of things other people make light of.. but then I second guess and wonder if it was ok for me to share a laugh..?

I can totally relate to the uncertainty about what actually classifies as gossip, but I'm trying to learn. However, I feel like you can join a laugh sometimes. There is a difference between friendly and loving jokes about someones traits or actions, and laughing at them at their expense. So try to discern if the joke is friendly or if it actually hurts the person.

This is the sin inspired by the enemy. Satan means the slanderer. If the brethren and sistren really love each other., they will not slander each other. That said, there will be tares among the wheat and these brothers do well to watch for wolves. Some will explode when you confront them.

We are all guilty. the heart is desperately wicked, evil to its surrounding influences. The key is, what do we allow to "influence" us then? Three is no one good, only one. May the Lord remind us all to walk the other way.

Amen, a good example and wise reminder - help me/us to guard our mouths. For if we truly love the brethren, we then in honor, in respect, prefer them before us. If we defer to the Holy Spirit's lead as God guides us, how then, can we go wrong? Our emotions, our feelings no matter how strong, does not constitute, truth or reality or fact.

It's almost a funny sight, we fight those who cannot defend themselves, so it is like shadow punching and knocking them out, even tho they aren't there, although if they were there it would be interesting as to who would stand, and who would get knocked out.

Kyle brings up the strongest point, we are quick to "tear down" but are we looking w an eye towards "restoration" if not, Peter never would had made it ... Jesus reached out to him Chuck Girard (Alisa Childer's dad) wrote a song in the 80s, Don't shoot the wounded. We are a family, we are a team. United we stand, divided we fall.

Warn people about what? We have clear instructions from the word. You go to that person first and then continue to follow the word.

The Bible says... “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. Matthew 18:15-17 But we usually do this... If another believer sins against you, go publicly and point out the offense. If the other people listen to your gossip, you have won those people to your sinful behavior. But if you are unsuccessful, talk with one or two others about the problem you had with your friend, and ask them to agree with you that you have been wronged. So that everything you say about how wronged you were, may be confirmed by two or three other gossip minded witnesses. If the person still has no clue that they have wronged you, take your case ("prayer request") to the church prayer meeting. Then if he or she are able to figure out that you are talking about them... then you may hold them at arm's length, until you become so bitter and self-enraged towards the individual that you have a problem with, that you end up being so filled with self-righteous indignation, that it causes you to turn your face from God and you are consumed with so much pain that you are unable to function for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a miserable, sinful parody on Matthew 18:15-17

PRO-SOCIAL BENEFITS Gossip is sharing information. You determine whether it’s positive or negative. You determine if it goes in the direction of slander. Gossip can promote cooperation by spreading positive information. When people say “your reputation precedes you“ they have heard gossip in the form of positive information about that person. Which was useful and served a purpose. That said, not correcting gossip that you know is untrue is not useful or helpful and has no pro-social benefit. The Bible teaches not to gossip in a negative or slanderous way.!

A mess toxic people love to spread and keep gossip about you or another going. They love to stay in the mix of stuff. Whether a lie or the truth idle, people create lies and juicy gossip. If you find yourself amongst the miserable who try to manipulate you to keep connections and communication with people and situations in which no longer serve you because you have outgrown a lot of habits and interactions as well. I don't live my life fully like a christain, yet there are some things that I do love about christainity that have helped me remove the burden of drug addiction. Sadly, abuse and misuse of technology and harassment as well as lies, came from toxic people who were doing the work of the devil. Intentional lies and abuse. The wrong hands were always on me. God will never send toxic manipulates to take over my life and aim to control it as well. I answer to no man, but when I die, I will give an account to the man upstairs. I don't walk around pointing out the sins or wrong of others. I belong to no church. I just visit from time to time. We are not on our time when we feel someone should be free of certain religious beliefs and habits. God is in control and knows the time, the hour, and the day. I see nothing wrong with same sex relationship but more important what I struggled with was drug addiction their for with me being free from that I rather be a walking testimony for those of all walk of life who are struggling with that and being treated or judged harshly for a disease called addiction. Darkness can't drive out. Darkness only light can do that and hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that. If you look at the spirit behind addiction it's a spirit of hate and tare down, waiting to keep people hindered with addiction and the lies that it tells. The enemy of lies. The enemy doesn't want people free from addiction because it has been beneficial in so many ways in the most unhealthy ways to the people . The enemy doesn't want to souls to experience life he wants death on those alive and walking and he also wants tge minds of others to be blind to the fact that he wants no one coming fourth for the change and the healing of souls and the freedom of those who are in and out of prison. He wants to also use the harsh judgment of others to affect others' mental health. Talk more about a graceful, caring God than a messed up judgement. God draws people in with love and truth not abuse
