The idea of Work-Life Balance has been outdated ever since the smartphone became mainstream, but COVID-19 has brought the need for a new model of well-being to the forefront. Striving for the unattainable work-life balance leads to guilt and dissatisfaction in life. It is time for a model of work-life integration and flexibility which prioritizes the unique needs and core values of the individual. An individual's life does not stop when school or work begins and their goals and visions for their career do not stop when personal time begins! Fulfillment and satisfaction will come when meaningful core components are a regular part of an individual's life with the understanding that at certain times one area will require more time and effort. Instead of feeling guilty about not being in perfect balance, embrace those "imbalances" as a natural part of life, and focus on making the moments you have high quality moments. Kristel Bauer is a wellness expert and Founder of Live Greatly with a mission of helping individuals thrive personally & professionally. Kristel empowers her audience to reclaim their well-being and attain their version of success. As an Integrative Medicine Fellow, Physician Assistant, adjunct PBL facilitator at Northwestern University, & an Influencer in the wellness space, Kristel provides her expertise in nutrition, stress management, and work/life integration. She shares her empowering message as a Speaker, consultant, and via her regularly ranked top 100 self-improvement podcast, Live Greatly. With her experience in Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Medicine she has a unique perspective into optimizing physical and mental well-being. Kristel can be seen in Forbes, Thrive Global and was recently live on ABC 7 Chicago. Kristel is working on writing her first book and she lives in the Chicagoland area with her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
