Part 1 of the Redman Performance at the Russell Simmons Phat Jam in 1992. Redman did some nice freestyles, classic hip hop.
Many in the comments say 1993. The most I'll concede is it was around Christmas time and maybe late 92. My label said 92, maybe I labeled years after I recorded...possible. Otherwise, Mandela effect shit lolol.

Looking back at his career, he was a true original in his style, he came on the scene in 1990 when there was no one else really with that aggressive style at the time in East Coast rap. Busta Rhymes had his crazy style but not in the same aggressive way. ODB and Onyx came a little later, Onyx were around in 1990 but they changed their style to be more aggressive around ‘92. So I think Redman was really the first more hardcore East Coast rapper of the 90’s.

Red man is hands down one of the best emcees of all time and has never failed to deliver in terms of what you expect when you want dope skills. It’s A shame i don’t see red man’s name when people make lists. I don’t see sooo many names and idk if it’s because lists are more of A modern social media trend so most people who know true Hip-Hop just aren’t on social media or if these people really do name their favorite rappers and are so willing to choose someone like J cole over someone like Big Pun…..i NEVER see BIG PUN’s name and it pisses me off because as A spanish one, Big pun is our BIGGIE and i’ll debate anyone who thinks biggie is better than big pun. ranting aside, Redman deserves so many flowers because he’s one of the best, always been one of the most real, dedicated, and undeniable emcees of all time. I can’t think of why people would not like someone like Redman he’s hilarious, witty, A vivid storyteller, etc.., list goes on

That’s like saying the Dynasties of the Pharaohs of Egypt were primitive. You’re talking about the height of lyricism in hip hop. Most of the shit today is a downgrade from the 90s. Mfkas “freestyling” from their phones, free styling hella slow like it’s spoken word, what Redman did here was top notch, but this is how freestyling was done in the 90s.

The song 🎵 "protect ya neck" came out in 1992, the album "enter the 36 chambers", came out in 1993. Back in the 80s & 90s, if you were a brand new artist, you had to release a single to build a buzz or hype, just to see 👀 if you were good enough to release a full length album. 😎👍

@@TheIcpfan23 I just read your comment correctly. And I feel what you're saying, except for the fact that Redman had a short lived stay as number one MC in the opinion of rap fans particularly on the east coast. That spot was taken by Nas, whose spot was taken quickly by Biggie. We might not agree with the stats or public opinion, but rap is a unique game where public opinion does matter. After Biggie's death, Jay Z took it and held it for a while. It's debatable whether 50 Cent got the crown but if he did, then he shared it with Lil Wayne and Kanye took it from them both.🤣

This was the show that Redman was referring to when he said "I originated all the wild sh%t, the rah rah sh%t, that jump up and ready to f#ck sh%t up now sh%t". Heads thought he was talking about Busta Rhymes. Red was talking about this show cause this was his intro to da rap game. Jeerze niggaz was wild asf back then.
