Got curious about the sound design and took each of the arcade ships for a short spin without music.

The sound design is top notch in this game. One of the reasons why I find it hard to get back into Redout 1.

GRIP had better sounding engines, imo, with that multi-layered speed-dependent system and unique deceleration sounds for every vehicle

I like the sound design in RO1 better honestly; it feels more unique rather than opting for/being closer to the “futuristic tech”stereotype. It’s still pretty good though, just not my style

Buran sounds more like a muscle car than the racecraft directly inspired by muscle cars.

I’m just noticing on a rewatch, the Sulha actually does sound similar to some of the pod racers seen in the prequel movie. That’s pretty neat

What would have been nice is the sound is connected to the installed power unit rather than the ship itself So you essentially engine swap and it sounds different

The sounds into a futuristic engines with car-like engines make this game so good

The hyper turbo sfx is also different for each ship, would have been nice to include here

I'm sure someone else has made it, or will make it! I made this for my own sake, to listen to the parts I felt like I absolutely couldn't make out while racing. The boost sounds are a fair bit more obvious.

I don't know, I feel like they could have gone a bit further in making really distinguished engine sounds. Apart from very few exceptions, they all sound quite samey.

I would think of it like other racing leagues. Nascar or Formula 1. They all use the same mandatory engines for close competition, but some will sound a little different, even from the same supplier like Red bull and AlphaTauri. It could well be the same here, besides to get to these speeds there may not be much difference between all of the power units. And canonically all the ships are capable of running different manufacturer power units.

you should showcase the engine sounds of redout1 ships i adore the breaking sounds of the Veloce from redout1 so much but i can't find it anywhere

Aw, just missing a montage of all the hyperboost sounds it seems. You cut off just before the hyperboost activates for you to use it before that big straight.
