Was at their shows already 4 times, go there each time they are close to my town. Great music and energy and performance and i don't know what, just great!

Ska was a mixture of the swing and reggae cultures. like the guitar and vocals came from most of the reggae culture. and The instrumentals came from swing. after teh third wave ska movement. punk started becoming incorporated with it. Which is why so many are all upbeat and what not now a days lol. Ska is Amazing! :)

It's great to see Tyler Jones and Chris Rhodes on stage together. For those who didn't know, Tyler and Chris were both in Spring Heeled Jack USA with JR from Less Than Jake filling out their horn section. When the band broke up... they each respectively went to RBF, the Bosstones, and LTJ. This was during the same warped tour that the Bosstones were busy supporting the release of their "final" studio album, A Jackknife to a Swan.

Ska started Reggae. Although in the 60s Ska sounded nothing like this and it was basically about being somebody when you're no one. it eventually became the father of the genres Rock Steady and Reggae.

I wish these guys would come to Austin. These guys have so much talent, it's a miracle they aren't mainstream yet. I don't want them to be thrown into that mix right away.... it would take away from their indy clout.

You might be right if you weren't wrong. Ska is a product of the 50s, reggae didn't come around until the 60s. That's why ska's considered to be the 'grandfather of reggae music'. Also it originated as a take on Blues (not swing) but quickly became its own genre. Oh, and the punk started getting mixed in during the second wave, not third.

Yeah. I agree. A lot of punk influence sure (don't know if I'd MORE THAN ANYTHING though. But you're still right). 3rd Wave and 2nd wave are both tons of fun. This is 3rd.
@TheMilksMan15 жыл бұрын
I dunno which bands exactly started but there just was a punk influence for a lot of the bands. You can notice some in Specials songs, Bad Manners, English Beat for sure, hell maybe even Madness a little

That's Matt Wong you're talking about and he's an extremely good bass player. He plays well in this video just like in every live performance I've ever seen. Just because he doesn't have wild stage antics doesn't mean he has stage fright. Can you play a more solid bassline in a live performance than him? I highly doubt it.

@11Bomber29 They're about as mainstream as you can get, man. Third wave ska was pretty much popularized by Reel Big Fish and Mighty Mighty Bosstones back in the 90's. If there's some sarcasm in the post, please ignore me, if there's not, well, the post stands.
