This performance of "Life" was shot in 1968 on 16mm film and we edited this completely new version from over 45 minutes of outtakes. Other great funk and soul artists in our library include Larry Graham and Graham Central Station, George Clinton (P-Funk and Funkadelic), James Brown and Curtis Mayfield.
Reelin' In The Years Productions houses the world's largest library of music footage, containing over 20,000 hours of material covering nearly every genre from the last 60 years. We have live concerts, TV appearances, interviews, in-studio segments, b-roll and more. In addition to music we have thousands of hours of interviews with the most recognizable celebrities, comedians, politicians, athletes, artists and authors of the 20th Century. If you need footage for your film, documentary, TV show, commercial, museum exhibit or presentation, we are your one-stop shop. Visit our online database at www.reelininthe... to explore our archive, but please email us as we are constantly adding new material to the archive. We do not supply material to fans or collectors under any circumstance, so please do not contact us if that is your intention. If you own a television show with music footage or filmed home movies or video of musical artists, we might be interested in representing your footage for licensing. Please contact us through our website reelinintheyear... to discuss doing business together.

Talent un-matched. Style never duplicated. Some artists cannot be copied. Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Sly & the Family Stone. Have you ever heard them rehearse? I HAVE....FOR 3 YEARS STRAIGHT. AT HIS POPS HOME ON THE CORNER OF URBANO AND DESOTO DRIVES IN SAN FRANCISCO'S INGLESIDE TERRACE. THEY WERE MY NEIGHBORS. I WAS THE KID ON THE STINGRAY BIKE OUTSIDE OF THEIR GARAGE, SOAKING UP WHAT WOULD BE LATER DEFINED AS FUNK. THEN, I'D RIDE HOME AND TRY TO PLAY WHAT SLY WAS PLAYING ON HIS FARFISA ORGAN IN PRACTICE. CYNTHIA WAS THE KINDEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I HAD EVER TALKED TO. BEING AN 8 YEAR OLD, I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH CONVERSATION FOR HER, BUT SHE MADE A LASTING IMPRESSION. LOVE HER FOREVER. 20 YEARS LATER, FREDDIE CAME TO MY STUDIO, AND PLAYED SOMETHING THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET....HE PLAYED A BASS LINE, SPACED RHYTHM, AND A MELODY LINE...ALL AT THE SAME TIME. HE MAY NOT REMEMBER, BUT I'LL NEVER FORGET. THEY ALL WERE SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ME FROM CHILDHOOD, AND I'M INFLUENCED BY THEM IN EVERY SONG THAT I WRITE OR PRODUCE. THANK YOU MY LEGENDS

What a fabulous track! Thank you so much for doing this video - I so wish I'd been there. Sly was well ahead of his time and was the prototype for Funkadelic, Parliament, even Earth Wind and Fire. He brought rock and soul music together for the first time. This was the flip side of M'Lady, another great track but I liked this one best.
