Bill Skarsgård, the actor that played It said in the scene where he was spitting and screaming in Eddie’s face (Jack Dylan Grazer), he was worried he was going to traumatize him. Jack was shaking and crying and screaming. And they say cut and Jack goes, “Love that. Love what you’re doing with the character!” Total professional lol

my guess is that after the physical and emotional shit that has happened to child actors in horror movies in the past, (Linda Blair from The Exorcist comes to mind, physically injured severely.) the adults on set are obviously trying to protect the child actors now.

Similar thing happened with the timing of the 3rd Season of Twin Peaks and what Laura Palmer had said about how much time had passed in the Red Room... (Its been awhile since I watched the show so I might be getting this a little wrong but she tells Cooper in the dream she will see him in like 26 years ie Season 2 finale was 1991 and sure enough Season 3 was 2017! Fun fact. In the book, the approximate cycle for Pennywise waking up and terrorizing the town and eating its children is 27 years. It's never a perfect cycle. But 27 is the average time between feedings. This movie came out 27 years after the old version with Tim Currey. Also, it's a blink and you miss it cameo, but the old 1990 Pennywise can be seen among the clown dolls.

Chapter 2 is really good. They filmed them consecutively and the casting for the adults is the best I've even seen in cinema. Everyone looks just like the kids and some of them were even picked by the child actors which is also cool. One theme that was more pronounced in the novel was the fuzzy line between what was IT's influence and what was people just being bastards. Thematically, IT /is/ the underbelly of society (it literally lives in the sewers, running through the city) and how the "top side" of the social order looks the other way when the marginalized and vulnerable go missing. The authorities just rationalize why so many children go missing, or when terrible things happen to minorities or "undesirable" folk. All the forms IT assumes, all the faces IT wears mask that it has no real physical being... because It is society, and society is It. The fact that It even lacks a real name, just descriptors that float around It, is a symbolic nod to the fact we collectively often lack the vocabulary to even label the horrors going on right under our noses. Without giving too much away, the book even addresses the way people are incentivized to "just get the hell out" and let the cycles of violence continue. How Bill and company decide to be brave and directly confront It, even though it's dangerous, and not simply look away and just hope it eats up someone else, is the only way to make a change, that's the real lesson here.

To paint a picture of how well this movie did, it earned around $700 million dollars on a $35-40 million dollar budget. The profit margin there is wild, even after you take away various advertisement costs etc. That said, I saw this in the theater when it came out, and I really dug it, and because I didn’t want to spoil anything else for myself I avoided the book until after Chapter 2. Now that I’ve read the book I can for sure say there are things I think should’ve been included in both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the movies, but I’ve generally seen them both as two different entities, and appreciate them both for what they are, very very great entertainment of their respective media.

One of my favorite stories from filming this is that the first time the child actors saw Bill Skarsgård, he was in full costume and makeup as Pennywise. The first scene they filmed was the house on Niebolt St. where he comes out of the fridge. Skarsgård was so afraid he'd scare them too badly and the kids were all total pros about it.

Its something that doesn't get explicitly explained in the films but to see it, is how Pennywise's presence effects everyone (including adults). People are more aggressive and willing to overlook more horrible things that happen. Its becomes a major component of the next movie with everyone's memory not working right.

It (1990) was also part one as kids and part 2 was grown up. this one was more in your face " scary" but was not as creepy...also watched it as a adult so its not the same. 90s was also on network tv, so had to be more subtle and your imagination filled in the scary which is better than CG, IMHO.

Couple of interesting facts. While filming the first time the kids all saw IT for the first time was the projector scene. Their reactions were raw. And bill skarsgard can actually move his eyes all creepy like that along with that smile.

You don't get hot when you're scared. You're going to get goosebumps and chills. But I did catch at least one part where BJ got really spooked. It was when the one kid was picking up his pills off the ground and the creepy hand appeared. You can see it on his face and how he leans all the way back to his seat and compared to couple seconds later when the creepy face appears BJ is not scared at all because he leans all the way close to the screen to see it and he has a curious expression on his face so those two moments right after each other show him scared and then not even a bit scared. But he's not a scary cat like Asia under the covers and her hands on her face which is so illogical but emotions never are so that's just how it goes sometimes 😂 Pretty good reaction video. This movie is very hard to follow when you don't see everything happening in order even if you have seen it (no pun intended 😂) lately. Maybe if you've seen it ten times within a year you'd have no problem following it even with the jumps. Good job anyway. But Asia, stop trying to hide how horrified you were throughout the whole movie by trying to say BJ was the one who was scared.

I saw the original when I was 8. I'm 41 now and If I take my bike out at night, I still won't look at the storm drains on the side of the road and just thinking about it gives me goose bumps.

Sorry for my being late to the party; I got home from Work when you were about an hour into it. I'm glad you enjoyed this Part One of the story. Fun Fact: The song that plays during the cleaning up the bathroom montage was a song called "Six Different Ways" by The Cure. About 8 months ago, you did a Reaction video to one of The Cure's other songs: "Just Like Heaven". They're one of my favorite bands. Glad you enjoyed this and I look forward to your seeing Chapter Two. Hope you're doing well.

They filmed the swimming scene at Elora Quarry about 30 minutes from where I live. Can confirm there’s a small beach and shallow part, then it drops off suddenly to deep water. Not a swimmer so we always bring life jackets since there’s no lifeguard but the water is beautiful and clear IRL

While not as good as this one, Chapter 2 is 1000% worth watching! Also, amazing reaction video. I enjoyed watching the 2 of you almost as much as the movie, which is my all time favorite horror flim.

The first one was constricted by TV, so it couldn't be more graphic.... The new one was in theaters... And Chapter two is 27 years later... the movie is based on a famous Stephen King novel..

I brought this up mostly to see if Asia would ever come out from behind the blanket 😄. In case you missed it, at 29:05 Tim Curry's 1990 Pennywise shows up as an Easter egg (he's on the left). I like to think of it as a nod to Tim Curry as well as an Easter egg.
