Regardless of the outcome, Meleys took on two dragons and left one crippled, and she gave Vhager, the oldest dragon, a good beating before she died (meleys also knock down vhagar). People who say she was stupid to stay don't realize that she was trying to protect the people at Rook's Rest. Notice how she wasn't attacking the soldiers' but just simply destroying their equipment; all her attacks were strategized. Notice how she didn't say "Dracarys" but "Attack, Meleys." Yet she fought for her queen till death because she knew the feeling Rheanrya was feeling because she too had been denied of what was rightfully hers. Also, knowing that she could've prevented Lucery’s death that day of the coronation was even more motivation to fight to the death and protect the people from the rook's rest. Let’s also talk about how Team Black doesn’t use their dragons as war equipment and truly has a bond with them. Rhaenys, the queen who never was a true queen and icon, a legend!

One thing I love about shows like GoT and HOTD is that they can take a character like Aegon and make him an underdog. They had every opportunity to make him a one-note villain but instead they chose to highlight his biggest flaws while also showing that he was forced into a role he was completely unprepared for and somehow everyone blames him for it. Hits rock bottom after his conversation with Alicent and chooses to do the bravest thing a King can do which is go to battle with their armed forces - only to then fall to his potential death.

I don’t think Alicent telling Larys that Viserys’ intentions no longer matter is her being a snake, it’s her coming to terms with reality. They’ve passed a point of no return and she was right that both sides will continue to think they’re justified, regardless of any peaceful intervention. There simply is no going back and, at this point, it’s a matter of winning or dying (just like Cersei told Ned in GOT). I think she’s finally come to a point where she can’t keep pretending to herself that her cause is a righteous one; no matter who wins, a lot of people and dragons will die, and I think she finally sees how futile it all is.

Meleys and Rhaenys have been paired for 44 years folks! Their bond is DEEP! She doesn't need to say "Dracarys" to order her. Simple connection of mere words and looks is all they need both are Queens denied their rightful status. Meleys was the fastest and possibly smartest and battle hardened. Vhagar at this point was well over 150 years old and slow.. only her size made her formidable. Meleys was always in Vhagars shadow and overlooked. The queen that never was.... being passed over an heir to the throne to her brother visarys. Both were queens trying to find their place in the world after. The writers over a year ago and actress eva best drew inspiration from functional and real world female figures who were passed over even tho they were well qualified. (Politics aside) Hillary Clintons 2016 loss to Donal Trump for the presidency was one of those moments they drew inspiration from.. the thought of someone being extremely qualified still being defined by their gender... and trying to figure out what to do afterwards .... Her visions are also a show invention, a way for them to speak with the audience that knows what happens. She's not a real dragon dreamer, and dreams should be premonitions but not a constant whisper of everything that will happen such as show!Helaena. Real dreamers: Daenys the dreamer, Aegon the conqueror (semi-canon, but not confirmed in the books nor by GRRM himself), Daeron the drunk, Daemon II Blackfyre, Maester Aemon, and of course, the one and only Daenerys Targaryen. Harrenhal not only potentially cursed for the reasons Alys said (the Riverlands were First Men, who followed the Old Gods. House Blackwood still does), but Aegon the conqueror destroyed the castle with dragonfire during the conquest. Balerion melted half of it laying siege and it never recovered. From the conquest to GOT times, most Houses that held Harrenhal have been extinct. Not confirmed. But the Blackwood guy most likely is the kid who killed another dude during Rhaenyra's tour for suitors in ep 4. The Battle of the Burning Mill was a victory for the Blackwoods actually. Their Lord died but they won. They were already declared and fighting for Rhaenyra. House Blackwood is one of GRRM favorite houses and you know which side is right when they are fighting for that side. They haven't appeared yet and some were cut. But he mentioned Benjicot "Bloody Ben" Blackwood, an 11yo maniac who fought for Rhaenyra. He and the Tully boy Oscar are to be friends. They merged Oscar with his father Elmo and his older brother Kermit. Ben, Kermit and Oscar formed the Lads, important Team Black loyalists, who won many battles alongside Ben's aunt Alysanne "Black Aly" Blackwood (so far not yet cast) and Sabitha Frey (Aly and Sabitha rumored to be lovers). "You always have been my dumbest kid" LMAO Her smartest kid was actually Daeron. The only one to be knighted. He was the better strategist and warrior for the greens. Led many battles and a lot of his traits were given to Aemond, who was actually just a self-centered psychopath, only caring about antagonizing Lucerys/Rhaenyra and going after Daemon. Daemon seeing himself as Aemond is part of the foreshadowing of their eventual meet-up but unlike what the show (and Aemond) wants us to believe, Daemon doesn't give a shit about him and definitely isn't afraid. The only trump card is Vhagar, she's the real threat and what Daemon is cautious about. "He wasn't even good" Viserys is not particularly remembered as a good king or a bad one. But he was weak, easily manipulated and his weakness is what made the dance possible. He named Rhaenyra first to punish Daemon, but then never changed his mind even having three sons. But he essentially sets her up. One example is having Otto as Hand again after he fired him exactly because he knew Otto wanted Aegon to be king. As far as Targaryens kings go, he's mid. Not one of the greats, not one of the worst. Suing for peace is a show-only invention. Rhaenyra said she would have her throne or kill Aegon from the beginning (she does promise to spare all her half-siblings if he bends the knee). But once Lucerys dies, it's war declared and it's over. LMaelor missing and wild age changes are a problem for the future. Even GRRM recently said so in his blog post, that Maelor missing from B&C and the show will have consequences. Little Aegon and Viserys, Rhaenyra and Daemon's boys, were supposed to be 9 and 7, but are 4 and 2. Joffrey is 6, but was supposed to be 12. This affects future events. Rook's Rest was supposed to happen 6 to 9 months after Viserys' died. The timeline is a mess. Aegon "ruled" for quite a while before what happened. They rushed through nine months of battles and build-up while saying it's been just a few weeks. That will complicate things in the future too. Aegon was in on the plan in the book. It's said Meleys could have easily killed Sunfyre, as she does kick his ass, but could have taken on Vhagar if not for Sunfyre there to help. Vhagar is huge but also old, slow, and heavy, and Aemond has been riding her for a short while (9 years in the book, 6 in the show). Sunfyre is an adult, but super young still. Only 20-something max, and Aegon has been riding him for 9 years. Meleys is said to be the fastest. An adult fully mature but still young, around 75yo. Rhaenys has been riding her for 42 years. Unlike what she says here, they have never been to battle though. Especially considering Rhaenyra said she inherited 80 years of peace. Which is a half-truth. Jaehaerys' reign was mostly peaceful, but there were small squabbles here and there. Vhagar is a war veteran, not only from the conquest but after Rhaenys' father was accidentally killed by Myrish Pirates invading Tarth, Daemon's father, Baelon Targaryen, slew thousands with Vhagar to avenge him. Rhaenys had been pregnant with Laena, so he never met his granddaughter. After that, Baelon was named heir by the King, supplanting Rhaenys. And when Baelon died a decade later, they called for the Council shown during the pilot and it eventually chose Viserys over Laenor/Rhaenys. Baelon rode Vhagar. Meleys was the dragon of his wife, Princess Alyssa, mother of Daemon and Viserys. Caraxes was Aemon's dragon and they all flew together often. So the battle is extra sad, because Vhagar was once bonded with Rhaenys' daughter and uncle, and she kills both her and Meleys. "Daemon where the fuck were you?" Funny thing is, show!Daemon said to Rhaenys: "let's go hunt Vhagar, together we can take her down, let's avenge Lucerys, Rhaenyra is out there alone, what if she meets Aemond?" Rhaenys denied him. He even tried to order her and she said he wasn't the king. This is a show addition bc in the book Daemon leaves for Harrenhal before Lucerys is killed and B&C is done by raven. Mysaria (still in King's Landing, bc they can't go inside despite the show taking both Daemon and Rhaenyra there as if it was the easiest thing to infiltrate mid-war) is the one to hire them, not Daemon. And it makes it more tragic bc if she had listened to him, they would have won the war right then and there. Aemond is now a twice/thrice kinslayer. Luke, Rhaenys, Aegon(?). Aemond the kinslayer is his moniker in the book and what he is known for during the dance (before that was Aemond One-Eye).

The saddest part for me is when Meleys is fighting Vhagar, and she must’ve been thinking, “Why am I fighting my sister?” They had previously grown up together for two whole generations, and to be fighting must’ve been such a devastating feeling for her. 🥺

Turning towards the water makes me think Rhaenys was going to go back to Dragonstone but before that she was trying to confirm that Vhagar was down/injured or dead on the ground. Unfortunately... Granny Vhagar is too good at sneak attacks.

I think if meleys hadn’t fought sunfyre at all, her and rhaenys would’ve definitely had a chance against aemond and vhagar. Meleys brought vhagar to the floor and scratched her up, imagine if she hadn’t just fought sunfyre? She could’ve just kept dropping vhagar from the sky until it caused enough damage or even killed aemond which would just neutralise vhagar.

Aemond definitely saw his chance to hurt Aegon but there wasn’t really a way to get Meleys off of Sunfyre anyway so Aegon was gonna be hurt no matter what. Him waiting that long put Aegon in that position though; he should have gone right away.

Here we finally had the necessary evidence to clarify the information in the book: Meleys would definitely beat Vhagar one on one head on, not in a suicide attack like Caraxes, but she would win and stay alive, despite being seriously injured. Another point is his absolute battle experience and greater size in black, which is stated for Rhaenys. Meleys is legendary and has a basically rational connection with Rhaenys, which also confirms the greatest connection that has ever existed between knight and dragon. They were glorious.

Outstanding episode! Rhaenys and Meleys went out like warriors and they went out with honor. I'm hoping the blacks start racking up some wins because they're just not winning in my opinion. Let Zuff know he's in my thoughts and sending him lots of good karma and peaceful vibes.

Hi, so the in GOT they took away almost all the magic that is in the books and without spoiler something important what is happening to Daemond is this... Harrenhall is next to a isle in which the children of the forrest used to lived and worshiped the old gods and until that time many heart tress survived. Then Harren The Black bring down the trees near to the isle and in that place he ordered to construct his castle and a bed with that wood, that's why Daemond is tripping, because that wood is special. Alice Rivers was considered a very important witch and she knows a lot of magic from the children, what she gave to Daemond is something that makes him to hallucinate in order to make him understand every single error that he have comited.

Team Green has 4 dragons, but with Sunfyre burned and battered, currently the only battle dragon is Vhagar. With Meleys's death, Team Black has 6 dragons, but 2 of them belong to Rhaenyra's younger children (who are too young to ride in battle), which leaves only 4. There are additional dragons who live on Dragonstone, so beyond Team Green reach, but they as they are currently not ridden, they are not much help to Team Black either as of now.

this episode was so good. daemon is going mad with his own guilty thoughts. i would not have drank that mystery witch brew. rhaenys was so classy, wise, and bad ass. she started the episode by telling her husband that he should legitimize his bastard instead of hiding him after he saved his life. that is big of her. that's an heir when their own children are dead. and one that knows the sea like he was wanting for driftmark. then she was wise and leading at council. she should have been made hand officially. she certainly was acting as hand to the queen. she was the best at advising and will be very missed as a voice of reason. her poor grandkids just lose everyone. but she was so good in that fight. skilled and smart. she had the longest bond with her dragon and the most experience and it showed. the looks they gave each other broke my heart. poor meleys, she was amazing. alicent was so brutal with aegon. he may be bad at this but its still not cool to plan behind his back. he's very alone in this position he never wanted, being treated like a burden. he didn't ask for this. not that he doesn't suck, but he sucks because his family sucks. and aemond took his revenge on him for last week. both in the meeting and on the dragon. aemond is back to being very cruel. again I think a product of his environment. there was no love anywhere there for those kids growing up. I'm glad cole didn't die because I want him to feel the weight of the consequences of what he did. he was so cocky in his plan and so many died and the king...well aemond wouldn't have been trying to finish him off if he wasn't still alive. but how close to not alive is yet to be seen. and sunfyre was so beautiful. seems to be alive but not by much. none of the dragons deserve this. they are family and this isn't their argument.

Only things about this episode I was sure on was Rhaenys doing a pretty shit job of taking out the army. Only attacking those close to the castle who were already riddled with arrows, when the real threat was at the tree line.

I think that what really makes me like emotional in this whole thing is how vhagar was Laenas dragon, they had the most special bond, and her dragon killed her mother. The dragons fighting the dragons feels so wrong because of how they’re all related to each other and just the fact that they’re not supposed to be enemies. The greens have basically destroyed the Targaryen beliefs by pitting them against each other. Also the preview of the next episode, team green deciding to parade meleys head in front of all of kings landing? Viserys is rolling over in his grave!!!!! Something else I wonder is if alicent is going to find out what aemond did to aegon, or if she’s just going to think it was rhaenyra again too
