As most of us know, Reese’s pieces are Elliot’s favorite candy in E.T. Originally they approached M&Ms to be in the movie, but after hearing Spielberg’s pitch, the Mars company thought it would bomb. So they go to Hershey, who was more than happy to let Reese’s Pieces be in the movie. Suffice to say, ET was a hit, and Reese’s sales skyrocketed.

I forgot about this commercial to be honest. But once I saw it on the NC commercial special it all came flooding back! BTW, Pizza Pieces (Pizza Pizza) had me laughing pretty hard

I don't usually remember the rest of it, but at this point I doubt I could dislodge "Timepieces... centerpieces... mantelpieces... Reese's Pieces" from my head with anything short of dynamite.

Used to love this commercial as a li'l kid. The jingle sounds very "Kraftwerk"-esque.

It's amazing how many goofy commercials stuck in my head to this day. I was probably like 13 when this aired on TV and have remembered it ever since. This and the whatchamacallit candy bar song are in the top 10 of my teenage memories.

In the early 90s my mom taped the movie ET for me and this was on one of the commercials (not surprising). I watched that tape all the time. This is such a blast from the past!

I was watching my ancient VHS tape today and it showed this AD. I just had to see if this was posted online. This same VHS Tape had TMNT Great Bodini and Wizard of Oz.

I looked this up after the jingle randomly popped into my head, as it has done many many times over the past 30+ years... I think it's held up great! Surrealist, catchy, unique.

Yup. I picked up that issue of Sonic a few years ago second hand at a comic shop. I was very surprised to see a print version of this commercial on the back!
