Hi everyone. Recently revamped my kit, so I decided to put together a step-by-step video blog/tutorial to show you guys exactly what we did throughout the process. The whole process took us all day to finish, but I put everything into this short video for you guys, so everything we did is here, it’s just a lot shorter. Hope this video comes in useful for some of you that may be thinking about doing the same thing to your own kit. If your kit is finished in Plastic/vinyl wrap, then I would recommend doing a similar thing as I did, as it drastically improved the look of the kit and also changed the sound for the better! The gear I use:
Kit: Pearl export EX kit (with original plastic/vinyl wrap removed and a deep mahogany varnish applied), this is the old export kit (before Pearl updated it to the much better version) :- 10”x10”, 12”x10” rack toms, 14”x12” and 16”x16” floor toms, 14”x6.5” snare and 22”x18” kick

Gibraltar double kick pedal… I can’t remember the model of it as I have had it for so long lol.
Cymbals:
Hi Hats: Meinl HCS 14” hats,
EFX/STACK: White horse hand crafted hi hat with a Meinl Headliner splash on top,
Crash cymbals: Zildjian A custom 18”/45cm Crash (on the right), Paiste PST 3 16” crash (on the left)
Ride: Zildjain ZXT 20” Medium thin ride
China: Paiste Alfa 18”.
Drum heads: Remo pinstripe batter heads with Evans level 360 Genera resonants across all the toms. SNARE DRUM: Remo coated ambassador on top and Remo Ambassador Snare side head. KICK DRUM: Evans Level 360 EMAD Heavyweight batter head and Remo Tattoo skin resonant head. (Unfortunately, you can’t see the kick drum in the video due to the camera angle. This was un-avoidable due to the size of my room).
Sticks: Vic Firth “American classic” 5Bs. I also use Vic Firth drummer’s isolation headphones.
I also use CymPad cymbal felts on the top of both crashes and ride.
