Guy's we have several options to change up..Dow, Crouch and Hayes. Utilise Hayes as a 2nd ruck...also able to switch both of them forward. I'm a big Hayes fan...

Potential AA ruckman with a bottom 5 midfield. Solid defense with bottom 5 forward line. We’re in no man’s land with what looks like one gameplan and lack of depth on the list. Would like Ross to take some responsibility in a presser and say what we’re doing right now isn’t working and we’re going to change it up. Henry was really impressive. Really great goal assists against pies, no one else has reliably set up goals imo. Our fixture gets easier at the backend of the season, long string at Marvel. Also after freo we've had the worst injury list and have sorely missed key talent. Hopefully getting Dow, Clark, Howard, Crouch, King, Wood, Henry and Webster back will improve our performances.

Play Campbell as pure Ruck and use Marshall as a midfielder, his clearance work is off the chart . Marshall, Steele, Windy , Owens around stoppage feeding the runners would be a thing of joy .

If RTB is feeling nervous pre-game this has got to reflect on our flat starts. It's the coach's responsibility to get the guys up and going. Come on RTB get positive, man!

Hey Jake I can see you are down but I lived through the 70's and 80s where we won so many wooden spoons and hardly won a game for years. When we did it was like a grand final. But all through those years the saints always tried their best and never gave up but that is not what I saw on Thursday night. Let's hope it was in RTB's words an "abberation" and not a trend I am predicting the saints will bounce back on Friday, they may not win but let us hope that they put in a 100% effort!

Hey Jake must admit along with a lot of other fans/supporters I was expecting another top 8 or top 4 placing but forgot about the youth in the team and the new young bloods we have recruited , so over expected as we need to give these guys time to grown and get there bodies right and get that experience and these younger players need to grow together and get that bond, I was jump on a week or so back when I mention in my opinion that Higgins and Butler should be playing for Sandy and I still think that we need our younger guys in the team and let them blossom as a group. So yes I think the club is on track and like you said there be those bumps in the road that we will all feel but it will be worth it in the end.GO GO SAINTS..

Hey Jake. Personally I have an issue with Ross's "safe to fail but excellence in learning" pregame chat. I can understand this being said in the meeting after a loss. But having a safe to fail mantra walking in to a field seems almost like an "out" for lack of effort with no accountability? Thoughts?

I still say, we have a winnable team. With our awsome recruits, don't forget they are still inexperienced,so to speak, look how far they've come. The truth be known, I believe it's our senior players that need to step up. They need to show abit of leadership and style. I,m not including Jack Steele, our Captain, because he is one player that is doing just that. Also, I say it over and over again, they need to take a few risks in order to gain confidence.

Jake, the tone of your summary reflects the really weak and disappointing perfoirmance of the team last Thursday night, and that's understandable. But despite all of that we do well to remember that after 11 rounds in 2023 Carlton were 13th with 4--1-6 and GWS 14th with 4-0-7; both went on to play finals, so it's not beyond the realms of possibilities for the Saints to do that this year. Poor scheduling by the AFL to have St Kilda play 3 games in 11 days, only 1 at Marvel, definitely had an adverse impact on the playing group, on top of the fact that they failed to play 'four quarters football' in most of the previous 5 games. While coming home with 4 points from the Port Adelaide game in Friday night is most unlikely, I expect the players themselves to lift substantially and give it a red hot go!

The biggest issue that I can see is our delivery by hand and foot. Either the passes go too high or low. How can we compete with the better sides who are so slick eg Swannies - they find some one with their passes. Also our guys have to attack the ball, they shouldn't just wait for it. Finally why do so many saints fly for the ball all at once? why can't someone wait for the crumbs? These are just schoolboy things, surely they train these things? If they do then why are our skills so deplorable?

i think we need to play more free flowing on the rebound and we cant do it with 4 talls, look at the gws game we got more scoring opportunities when we had less talls forward, at the moment though with how young we are playing we all just want the effort, they probably out performed last year and gave us a hope that probably isnt there just yet, just want the boys to have a proper go and hope things come together again for us. either way we love the saints and we are always going to back the boys

The team we put on the field last week was simply tired and not good enough. Byrnes & Sharman are simply not good enough. I doubt Caminiti is either. Jones line ball in a good team at best. Marshall needs help. Forget Butler, no preseason and average anyway. Sinclair, no preseason has greatly affected him. So long as King and Higgins continue to miss easy set shots we are stuffed. The balance of our forward has been terrible, probably through lack of personnel. In the midfield we have really missed Crouch. My expectations for the season are low, it hurts less then!

Get LDU & TarrryThomas next year, Give Schoenmaker a go, get in Dow, Wood, Hayes, and Henry and we'd be flying. Kicking straight would make a huge difference.

A few things: they’ve shown they can play with the best ie Collingwood. The impact players from early last season - Owens, Philipou, Sinclair are well under par atm. I was expecting Sharman to be that key forward to kick the goals as defenders would focus on king, higgins & Membrey, but his confidence is shot atm as it hasn’t helped him being moved around the ground. The loss of key cogs in Clarke, Crouch, Dow, Henry, Howard & Wood has not helped with team momentum. A slight bonus though is that it has given opportunities to the young group. Overall so far the record seems about right. A few extra mins vs the cats, bombers & giants & it could also been much better. But hoping for a stronger finish to the season compared to 2023. Cmon you mighty Sainterz!!! ❤️🤍🖤

Our mids have gone backwards under Goddard and our forwards are almost the worst I’ve seen!! No movement, forward craft, leads etc…. All they do is just stand there and point!🤦🏻‍♂️ Harvey (as much as I love him) shouldn’t be our FORWARD coach!! Things would want to change quickly for us to be any chance of making finals. I can’t see it.

Until 2021, the Saints haven’t drafted well for mids since the early 2000s. Ross and prior coaches are paying the price for this.. Clearly if you have the Bont and Petracca, the saints are top 4 last year and 5 and 1 this year. As the great ex- Richmond president said, you can’t make jam out of shit.

Jake love your work and most of your views. But i think you give way too credit to Hunter Clark. I understand his injury history has impacted his output, but even when fit i dont see anything special he adds to the mids. Same with Hayes, he's play around 5 games, dont think its a fair assessment to assume either will add to our team
