For my show this was my worst year technically, but also my best year visually. I know the feeling of being so sick of it all...and then immediately planning my 2024 display. I already have spent $600 for props for my next show. Yes, I'm addicted.

Dude, it was your videos two years ago that helped me figure out xlights more, as well as setting up my controllers. I've been doing static displays for many years. In 2018 I bought used, a 3 channel Sho-me box that we plugged an iPod into. And grew from there. Thanks for your videos and knowledge. If we ever cross paths, hot chocolate or coffee on me! Keep up the good work.

I sure appreciated all the videos you have posted. They have helped me tremendously. One I’d love see is how you go about using power injection. I’m not quite sure how it works. Keep up the good work

Glad the videos are useful! I have already made a power injection video last year you might find useful. If you want to check it out, you can here! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbilf92Cy5u8oGg.html

Would love to see a high level diagram of how a typical light show can be put together. For example, differential receivers and power injection etc. I've seen your shows on these and the illustrations are brilliant. I might have missed the kinda diagram I'm suggesting. But thanks for all the info and insights. I'm from South Africa and this is unknown territory here and the hardware has to be imported. Thanks again.

Glad the videos are useful! I don't think I've ever made a video showing a whole diagram of an entire light show setup, but I'll definitely keep the idea in mind for a future video!

Nick, great reflection video. Nice to hear your review / thoughts. I expected to hear some more about the p5 panel, but you have given us enough on that already. Looking forward to your network video, as well as others for this year. Any thoughts on adding in another holiday - say maybe July 4th? I'm thinking that might be a good one since its far enough away from the others and you only need to run for a couple of days. Maybe a smaller setup, not as complex as the Halloween or Christmas displays. Just thinking...

Glad you enjoyed the video! Sorry I didn't talk about the panel more, I kinda forgot about it. Is there anything specific you wanted to hear about it? I probably won't be making any more videos for it, unless I rebuild part of it (which is pretty likely). As for adding another holiday for the display, I would have to say no. I already get quite stressed around summer with the Christmas and Halloween displays, and I like having a few months for a break at the start of each year. If I added another show in the summer I'd probably have to start planning sooner each year. There are a few other reasons, but the big one is how busy I am in the summer, and I don't think I could handle running another show. But thank you for the idea!

@How2Pixel No need to go further into the panel, you did that quite well in earlier videos, I just was a little surprised after how much you did with it last year that you didn't even mention it in your "year in review". But, as you said, I'm sure you are glad that project is behind you. As for adding in a holiday, I absolutely understand being busy. I'm amazed you're able to do what you do with school and such, so I just figured summer might be a slower time for you and would be something different. I'm personally thinking of doing something with some simple custom items, like LED fireworks almost. Still trying to figure it out in my head right now.

Ooh LED fireworks would be cool! I'll have to find a video of your show if you set those up!

Nick, can you do a bit more information on FPP & Raspberry Pi to control the light how. I got a little frustrated on programming that I gave up and just let my laptop control it. I really want the Raspberry to control it this year. Just a suggestion. Thanks for all your great videos.
@How2Pixel

I do already have a video about how to setup FPP, but it's not the best quality. It is a bit of an older video, but most of the information in it is still correct. You can check it out here if you'd like kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptB6gNOoxr6rhIU.html I was thinking about updating that video sometime this year, but it probably won't be for at least a couple months since there's a lot of other videos I'm working on. But hopefully that other video is helpful for now!

Good luck this year! If you are planning to make a video about smart receivers, you can show how to connect SRx2, SRx4 to F48/F16V3 controller. Do I need to change the controller firmware? I’m just planning to order an SRx4 board, but I don’t understand how this board will be displayed in the f48 settings, the board will occupy 16 ports at once, but will connect to one rg45 connector. Please help me how to figure this out
@How2Pixel

I will definitely look into that to include it in the video. I'm honestly not sure if the newer receivers are backwards compatible, I'll have to do some research. If they can work with the F16v3, my assumption is the controller will think it's just multiple receivers on one output. The SRx4 is technically 4 regular receivers built into one board, and the SRx2 is 2 built into one board. I'm thinking the controller will probably just assume the SRx2 receiver is 2 receivers chained together. However, the F16v3 only allows up to 3 receivers per port. If the SRx4 counts as 4 receivers, the last 4 ports on it might not work. But like I said, I'll have to look into this more!

@@How2Pixel Thanks for the answer! The site says that SRx4 is compatible with f16v3, it will be interesting to know how to configure it

Very nice. I have a question as I am extremely new to outdoor home lighting. I am looking at the Etops permanent outdoor lights for home installation. Is there a way to get them to run on flight controller even though they are RGBW?
@How2Pixel

Are they smart or dumb pixels? Smart pixels mean each LED has a microchip that controls it, so every single light can be it's own color. Smart pixels usually have 3 wires, a positive, a negative, and a data wire to control the LEDS. In dumb pixels, the whole strand has to be the same color and each bulb cannot change on it's own. These lights don't have microchips, and usually have 4 wires. A ground or positive wire, then an R, G, and B wire. If your pixels are smart pixels, then yes you can run them on the Falcon controller even if they are RGBW. Hope this helps!

The biggest problem I'm having right now is just trying to figure out where I can go to have someone make the pixel. I know where I can get the PCB board printed, and I know what parts I need to make the pixel, I just don't have anyway to build it myself. And if I did, I don't want to have to solder together and build a ton of pixels one by one 😂

@@How2Pixel Not sure where you get your pixels from, but i buy direct from China and talk with the manufactures that make them. I can pass on their info if you would like. Just be careful what you share until you have an agreement or something in place to protect your idea.
@How2Pixel
@How2Pixel 7 ай бұрын
So the manufactures you talk to, can they make custom products? The upper half of the pixel could probably be built the same way as normal pixels, but the bottom half would have to be designed differently. If you would like to email me their contact information at Bridgeportsbrightestlights@gmail.com, that would be awesome! Then if I decide to take my idea further, I know of somewhere to have the pixels made haha.
