I do not think America has ever had a bigger sweetheart then Dorothy Hamill. I know as a young boy of only 15/16 in 1976 I had a crush on alot of woman but Dorothy was one of the special ones. She was classy & the girl next door. She still looks fantastic at the age of 58. There will never be another like her.

I have always admired Tenley Albright who became a medical doctor. I thought she was beautiful and smart and all class. I named my baby dog Tenley.

Peggy & Dorothy are icons. Never embarrassed themselves. Classy ladies. Forget Hollywood. They are the real stars. Now we have the next generation of ladies. Michelle...Sasha...these ladies are beautiful.

I was at the 1960 Winter Olymics in Squaw Valley. The whole family went there for only $50. You could walk around, see any event. There were no security cops, didn't need any. I saw my first giant size Snickers bar there. "You mean they make giant candy bars?"

I like how she says "you can finally be free" when they just got through telling us all the pressure she had from the sport. About perfection and such. I guess that is the bad side of intelligence. You see the crap no one wants you to see and people bitch about it.

This may sound very off topic, but when Dorothy Hamill was young she reminded me of a young Diana Spencer. It’s something about her eyes and her facial expressions. Very similar to Diana’s when she was in her late teens/early 20s.

I realize that Dorothy was 5 years older than Diana and became a celebrity exactly 5 years before Diana did, so perhaps it makes more sense to say that a young Diana Spencer reminded me of a young Dorothy Hamill. 👍

Peggy’s comment on the European skaters is not very nice and respectful (1.12) ‘I didn’t like the others were skating. Sjoukje Dijkstra won in 1964. And she was such a masculair skater, and really a big woman, very strong, she could do the jumps, but she was not graceful. I don’t like that at all.’ I fully agree: Peggy was a very elegent and a gentle skater, like a ballerina. Sjoukje was a more full figured woman than Peggy Fleming and her Olympic predessor Carol Heiss. She was an athletic skater, but she also excelled at both figures and free skating (1961-1964). I don’t think, that the jury was mistaken at the Olympics in Innsbruck by giving Sjoukje very high notes for both the technical merit (on the 6.0 scale): 5.7, 2x5.8 and 6x5.9. And on her artistic (!) impression: 5x5.8 and 4x5.9. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNKDadegzbrLlKc.html

WOW ! This was the first I heard of Peggy Fleming being critical of one of her competitors. Peggy is one of our great champions and symbol of American skating rising from the tragedy of 2/15/1961.

Peggy Fleming was an ok skater. She is a graceful woman though. Although she seems kind of conceited.

Judges. In the early days they were often on the ice itself. Weird for a free skate but there it was.

"I knew I could never live up to Peggy Fleming..... I just knew it........" How utterly wrong she was. Hamill so went beyond Fleming as to beggar description.........................
