80 minutes with Right-Livelihood Award Winner Tony Rinaudo, the founder of FMNR and one of the most succesful international development anti-poverty efforts on the African Continent. FMNR has tripled some farmer's incomes while leading to the reforestation of millions of hectares of land, starting in Niger and spreading through the Sahel Region and E. Africa.

I've been watching and admiring Tony's work to promote this, and the projects people's and their results for quite a while. Such a great story. We definitely need a lot more of this. So glad that Tony saw that sprouting tree, and realized it's potential to change the situation! What a boon for the earth.

This is incredible. Very fascinating presentation that showcases the blueprint for regreening desertified landscapes without even any money. Thanks guys!

There seems to be a meta level here. Take a look how Mr Rinaudo is focused on the speaking person. 😃 It's heartwarming to see that there are still people who know how to and are willing to - listen to the others and process information. Thank you for the video! It was a feast for brain to be able to see this gem! 👏

I wonder why these geniuses like Tony tend to work in isolation. Wangari Maathai, Christine Jones, Walter Jehne, Allan Savory and many other combined could probably succeed in turning around Africa by re-greening it, thus contributing to retard climate change. Greetings from Namibia

I guess the framers would end up becoming 'tree huggers' once they understand the benefits :-) Important to note too what Tony said about 'just planting trees' which he notes has failed in most places and has cost a huge amount of money - it is better to regenerate from what is already there. Yet there are still 'tree planting' programs going on (2020) wasting time and resources while diminishing the senes of agency for those involved in being able to address the problem.

I wonder if they can do this in Haiti

It would depend. FMNR needs to be done with trees that exist as sprouting stumps or roots, or the trees must be planted/nurtured/protected for a number of years before they can be managed in this way. The latter costs money, time, and much greater buy-in all around. The former is much easier taught and with the right social enviroment has great potential. So, if Haiti has the right type of situation (trees growing from large existing root systems + a social environment conducive to learning and practicing the simple technique while not being hindered by government/laws/local customs), then it is likely that it could take off quite easily. Given the low financial situation in Haiti it may not be able to take off with investment (to replant and nurse trees for reforesting if the sprouting stumps are absent) unless that investment comes from outside the country.

Could it be possible to add many "FRUIT" bearing trees for people and insects to eat passing by! and create passageway for water like man-made lakes and rivers in the dessert. And to invest in large tank to catch rain water for drink in every mile! God Bless!

The US Founders were "tree huggers" in a very real sense. The vast majority of them were owners of multi-use lands, and those from communities connected to them. James Madison wrote about the interdependent nature of the American economy, and warned against "Dangerously Wealthy Individuals" who used their massive list of clerical retainers, lawyers, clerks, administrators, unskilled laborers, etc., as an excuse for forming monopolies, monocrop for foreign exports, and ultimately colonies on foreign soils. The American Founding came about as a result of abuse of people like the colonists, by the Multinational Conglomerates that were the Trading Companies, and their King's refusal to protect them from that, due to his profit share.

Guys, love what you are doing! That being said. your graphic presentation lacks impact and clarity. I really think with some work , your message could be significantly more effective.
