The Assassin's Creed Shadows reaction has been nothing short of polarizing. Many see the AC Shadows trailer as confirmation of everything they hate in gaming while others are celebrating it. My own Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer reaction was just excitement about what we already knew, which is why the AC Shadows controversy seems strange.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, set to release in November 2024. This game was formally known as AC Red or Assassin's Creed Red.

I remember people saying something similar about Valhalla failing and not being successful. That game went on to make a billon dollars at the end of its lifecycle, I have no doubt this game will be just as successful

To think Oda Nobunaga didn’t utilize Yasuke as a Samurai is crazy💯 Some people really just have a problem with Black/African representation! Look at the past 100 years of media! Tv, Movies, Video Games, Magazines etc.. Egypt/Kemet is an another example!

Hopefully AC just adds a character creation mode next game. They had a weak one in Immortals Fenyx Rising. Would love to have something like Cyberpunk has. Let’s face it most AC main characters are super generic to begin with, let us build whoever we want to play as.

Im really excited to see what theyve come up with. This is by far the longest gap ever between mainline AC games....i hope theyve come up with some new tricks instead of the same old

At this point woke just means liberal, which most writers are going to trend in that direction anyways, most creative people do. So if you don’t want to play any woke games I don’t know? Good luck? I think if you need to look at the politics of the people who create the games you might play, and you want them to have conservative politics then have fun at that? I think that’s way too much homework to do before you buy a game. I usually just look at the game, decide if it’s up my alley, and then buy it. I certainly don’t have the time or energy to find out the politics of the people behind a video game before I decide if I will support it. I just support it if it looks like something I’d like to play, could care less what the writers rooms politics are.

@@ReforgeGaming Then it’s like making an Avengers movie about the Asian tourist in the background or the Asian IT guy. You know we wouldn’t stand for that. We don’t even like having Asian men be the main guy in Asian settings in Asian stories. That’s why we have The Last Samurai and The Great Wall. We’re the masters of race swapping. We love replacing Asian men any chance we get. And then we wonder why it bothers them lol.

Yasuke (Yaske) was a samurai, and I'm really tired of people saying but he was a retainer. A retainer is someone who is retained in service, the Samurai were warriors who were, in fact, retainers who served their lords or landowners. Yasuke was retained into service by Nobunaga. There was another famous black samurai in early Japan known as Sakanouye Tamuramaro.

I completely understand the wish of having a Japanese Samurai, but the outrage with it is wild. I'll be playing as the female cause I want the sneaky play style anyways, but if I was wanting a warrior play style, I'd admittedly be slightly irritated.

You people always pull out the racist card. Holy. Annoying af. There might be some, but most are not racist. There are two AC characters who are black, and there were no complaints. This is in Japan, so all main should be Asian. There is so little known about Yasuke if he's even a samurai or not.

I've seen a lot of pretty measured takes that are just disappointed they can't play a Japanese Samurai. I personally would be too if I wanted the warrior play style

@@punch180racism is defined as hate or favoritism to a specific racial background air go hating a game just because of a characters skin color more so when he actually existed how you interpreted his history makes 0 difference fact is he was real he was there and the game has him in it maybe they fill in there own aspects in his story fact is in a series where you are fighting anubus on a flaming horse and fighting the Pope with a magical mind controlling apple on a reality bending staff crying about historical accuracy when this is the most historically accurate the series has ever been while ignoring Japan's past historical figures or the fact there is a actual Japanese women ya all are completely ignoring is not only hypocritical it's also very disrespectful to all of Japan I see way more people speaking for Japan then actual Japanese people in fact it's legit number 1 in pre order sales in there country so I think it's very clear to say the Japanese do not agree with any of you at all

@@punch180 guess you haven't played: AC: Revelation, AC Rogue, AC valhalla, AC freedom cry, AC liberation, AC black flag, AC origins... Most of the protagonists in the AC games are not native to the settings they take place. But hey, black man in Japan bad, amiright? See that's the problem if the game did make the character actually Japanese like nio or ghost of tsushima the player base would be calling it a ghost of tsushima clone and comparing it to each other and crying about what one did better so fact is the ac fan base is just never happy and would have cried about this game no matter what

I'm black is it weird I would rather a Japanese samurai? 🤷🏾‍♂️ Arthur Morgan in Red Dead redemption being a Japanese man would seem weird not that there wasn't a Japanese man somewhere in the old west. Then play as the women if a character skin color bothers you that much fact is no one including you are bringing up any reason for the hate for this game other then personal not factual you hating a black man is not a valid excuse to massively down vote a game then speak on behalf of an entire country that most of you probably have never been to or even thought to ask them how they feel it's very disrespectful to speak for Japan without there input and I have seen way to much of that I don't wanna play as him is not a valid excuse for the hate this game is getting more so since there is a 2nd character you can play as it comes off as a personal grudge against the series not a valid or factual one just personal hate

As I stated you could have justified historically making Arthur Morgan Japanese but it would still seem strange since it would be pretty anomalous. It "seems" more like a choice made simply to say that they are checking the box of inclusion as opposed to telling an interesting story. I also don't feel like a bunch of white people are constantly oppressing me, so maybe I just have a strange worldview. Saying that it "bothers me" and noticing it for what it seems to be are two different things.

I have yet to see any video confirming this other then people saying they said that and if it's anything like any RPG game witch they confirmed this was going to be part of that type of game play you can legit make your character sleep with anything in bulders gate 3 we where able to screw a bear dude and that game won game of the year you seriously act like this impacts the game when it doesn't what truly impacts the game is gameplay something none of us have seen yet

Wokesoft again with their agendas. Yasuke came to Japan (1581-1582) as a slave along with the Italian Jesuit Valignano and became a weapon retainer and sort of a jester to the samurai, but never a samurai himself..... Plus, is not a surprise that Ubisoft is after those juicy ESG points for DEI BS now making him GAY?....WTF??...hahaha..... not to mention the microtransactions, 70usd + game rental practice, bugs, horrible writing, etc..... Man, GAYming in 2024 is great....
