Julia Hartley-Brewer says Reform UK leader Nigel Farage “has the will” to stop the boats within 100 days.
The Reform election manifesto describes a “serious plan to reshape the way our country is run”, as his party pledges to tackle the “population explosion”.
Reform has chosen to title its election document ‘Our Contract With You’, with the leader having previously stated the party believes people associate the term “manifesto” with “lies”.
Julia says: “He’s different from other leaders who have this concern of being liked at dinner parties… I don’t know how he will do that within the law.”

My brother worked as a porter in the NHS. I can't quite remember what it was, but he used to say they'd get a box of product that was like £10 a box where they could get alternatives of no less quality at like £3. Said managers had no incentive whatsoever to save money and always argued to get more was to spend more and claim they were on the breadline. He worked there like 15 years and said tax money was being wasted. To me, feels the debate always turns to doctors and nurses and never the cost of inventory or more general cost behind the scenes.

Too much read tape in NHS. Referral referral referral Patients consultation is very important to make severe changes in NHS. Lot of money is wasted. Why an inpatient need referral from GP, for example to check hearing?

Loads of waste could be cut in the NHS. I've used it once in 25 years, fractured my knee in 2021. A&E, had to go to 3 different receptionists who typed in different things off a form I had to fill in. Porters needed because the X Ray machine was about a quarter of a mile from A&E. A later 25 minute slot of a doctor's time, 6 minutes with me, 19 minutes running round chasing X Rays. Wouldn't give me next appointment while I was there, had to send a piece of paper in the post. I work in a public sector organisation and for years we were told to do more with less money and it has worked. We were all encouraged to try more efficient ways of doing things. The NHS seems exempt.

I used to work for the local council. We moved offices 4 times in the years i worked there each time we had new furniture. Which we didnt need as we moved twice within a year the furniture we left behid was left to fall to pieces. Talk about wasting money wasnt in it.

Heres where you cut waste in government..you hire professionals to scrutinise, write, and implement procurement and contracts. You pay them the going private sector rates. At the moment very unskilled, unqualified, and foolish people do this and private conpanies run rings around them. I have many examples of this from my time in the military and NHS.

I wonder what would happen if the manufacturers of the boats, outboard engines, life vests etc were all required to provide details of all orders above a 'personal' level to law enforcement prior to dispatch and unless selling to a corporate the buyer has to justify the purchase. Sounds draconian but 'if you have nothing to hide you shouldnt mind' :)
