I think you can choose the '+1' ability unless the opponent has a card like 'Get Lost' in hand; otherwise, they won't be able to eliminate The Wandering Emperor.

Seeing that Celestus will be gone in less than 2 months id say Corn. Also if you have alot of "crime" like abilities or spells id seriously consider Bandit's Haul its wildly underrated. Great for getting extra cards for spells you already would use and it just lke corn and celestus it gives 1 mana of any color. and it costs 3 colorless to cast

At 1:07, I think the approach you chose wasn't a good idea, as the opponent could use the Anchorage to launch an attack on the Wandering Emperor, if they had acquired the plain land card.But you gained nothing and lost a card, The Wandering Emperor.
