Your restoration is wonderful! You've allowed that lovely old dresser to tell its life story and show off the craftsmanship that went into creating it. The wood grain is a treasure -- this functional beauty will enhance your home for years to come!

Thank you so much! It’s amazing what they could do and build so long ago without the tools we have today. It sure is beautiful and well made. I was grateful to get to restore it.

Wood grain is gorgeous on this one. Reminds me of something Mom would have had back in the day.

I absolutely loved the lighter tone! The wood grain was really beautiful! I also loved the paper you lined the drawers with.

Thank you so much! I love this style of dresser. They have so much character and quality of workmanship.😍 I snagged a similar one for my daughter’s room that I am looking forward to refinishing, too.

Gorgeous! I'm so jealous you found this for $50.00. It's imperfections makes it perfect. Great job!

Thank you! Wasn’t that such a great deal? That’s why I was willing to pay for it before I could look at it in person and pick it up. I knew it would be gone if I did. It’s such a beautiful little dresser.

Im really going to have to try this stripper!! Watching how easily you were able to remove the top was SO impressive! I have never been able to remove old finish off like that with the stripper I use!

It really does work well. I’ve used it several times now and am very happy with it, especially considering how much safer it is to use compared to other effective strippers.

Wow need to try this stripper. Usually use Citrus strip but that seems to work really well. Im loving wood tones a lot lately as long as it doesn't have a red or orange tone to it. This turned out beautifully. Job well done. Have a wonderful week.

Yes, it’s much more effective than citristrip and not as sticky. You pay more, but if it’s more effective and easier to deal with, then I think it’s worth the extra cost. Thank you! You as well.

I’m gonna have to try that stripper. I seriously dislike stripper. It’s so hard to take off and clean up sucks. You did an amazing job on this antique/vintage piece. Thank you for sharing. And I love those sponge sanding pads. I get mine from Amazon and they are really affordable. Oh and I would have white washed it myself but it turned out beautiful.

Completely agree! I have had good success with this one so far. Lisa from Ivy Lane Interiors stripped a Midcentury Bassett dresser that was absolutely covered in a bad paint job last week with it if you haven’t watched her video to see her experience using it with a painted piece. She liked it, too. I also love how affordable the sanding sponges are, especially considering how well they work. I considered white washing the dresser, bc I really like that look, too. I do want to try it on a piece sometime. Glad you still liked this look. Always appreciate you watching and commenting, Annetta.💜

I also geek out with the texture of tack cloth.😳I have an Eastlake dresser that I got from my Dad when he passed. The finish is dark and someone added decoupage birds to the drawers. Not my taste. You have inspired me to restore it.

Too funny! I’m glad I’m not the only one. They work so well, but I hate the feel on my hands! How special to have that history to go with the dresser. I’m so glad my video has inspired you to restore it to something that better suits your taste.😍

Great improvement 👍 I wonder how it would have looked with no stain at all? I’ve been finishing oak with just button shellac (and wax) and get a lovely golden tone, but maybe not durable enough for pieces that get a lot of use? Just a note on bicarbonate of soda + lemon juice (or vinegar). Both work well alone, but when you combine them, aside from some impressive bubbling, they effectively cancel out. You get sodium citrate (or sodium acetate with vinegar) which isn’t a particularly effective cleaner. Love the video, looking forward to the next one!

Thank you! I love how much you know about woodworking and appreciate you sharing your knowledge and what you use. I’ve never even heard of button shellac and will have to look into it. Oak is such a beautiful wood that it probably would’ve looked pretty with only some kind of protection on it. I really like the brown that this stone brings out in the grain tho. Appreciate the science lesson - no wonder it wasn’t very effective!😂😅 Lesson learned for next time. Thanks so much for watching!

How exciting! Someone is planning to get it tomorrow for $425. I think I could’ve held out for the $450 I had it listed for, but I have several pieces stacking up and am happy to get it sold. Another lady in my area has some listed for $500-$550. Hopefully that helps.💜
