Refreshing our living room!

After living here a year, we decided it was finally time to get some new furniture for our living room. We wanted to lighten up the space, and are so happy with how it came out 😌
TV Console - IKEA Besta (walnut effect light gray)
Legs - Sara
Door handles - Agnes Pull
Rug - Elle Handmade Flatweave Ivory Rug by Birch Lane

A larger rug would help too. Right now the sofa isn't anchored to the room and the room looks smaller than it is. A rug centered with the focal point of the room, while also fitting at least under the front legs of the sofa and extending 6-12" out from the sides of the sofa. Just research interior design and rug sizing. We recently followed the "rules" and our home feels much larger now when spending time in the new spaces.

This came out so nice! Definitely influenced us to redo our living room space too! Did you make the middle cabinet door a “push to open” we ordered three of the pull handles but not sure if it’ll work like that.

Woo! That’s so exciting So funny enough, we did the same exact thing. Ordered 3 handles, but ended up only using 2 because we liked the look more We made the middle door push to open but tbh, there’s enough space at the top of the cabinet and the door so you can just open it from the top with no issues Enjoy your new living room!!

add the extra leg in the middle from ikea, otherwise the console will bend over time. trust me, been there multiple times and rebought the console 4 times already until I learned.

I think these are the Sara legs from Norse interiors. They sell all sorts of things to customize ikea furniture.

This (decent tv) to this (a few inches smaller, looks like a projection), this was definitely not jesses idea. Real talk tho i prefer the old setup, u should ask people which looks better, Put(send) the new pic first, then the old pic right after and ask which looks better. U did get a good deal on the table , idk how the screws and a few metal bars,springs were pricey.

Hello! I went with the "Walnut effect light gray" color. I bought it as a combo here: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/besta-tv-unit-with-doors-white-stained-oak-effect-lappviken-white-stained-oak-effect-s29568054/ It looks like they took that color down in the US. Maybe "White stained oak effect" replaced it? To be honest, I kind of like the new color more 😅

Hello! It looks like IKEA has discontinued the walnut effect light gray, atleast in my area. @@driggsy Ah I see. I actually prefer the walnut light grey effect and I believe many others did as well. I don’t know why they always get rid of the good ones. My only issue with the white stained oak is that it looks so empty. Like it needs to be painted or something to give it some life. Idk maybe I just prefer a little bit of a darker touch. My plan after seeing your vid was to purchase the walnut light grey tv bench and I had hoped that IKEA sold console doors separately that I could just put together my self but I may have to figure something else out. So at the time you purchased it did you get the console doors from ikea? Or did you buy the tv bench that came with the console doors? Theres a besta tv stands without doors and there’s others with them just trying to understand what you did cause from the vid it seemed like you had got the doors in a separate purchase or something but maybe im wrong. Apologies for the long writing.

@@igiveyouthefacts I can see what you mean. The "white stained oak" definitely doesn't look stained at all haha has kind of an unfinished look to it. When I picked this up, IKEA was indeed selling the "walnut light gray" TV unit with doors as a whole. I'm not sure why they discontinued it :(

@@arirubii So funny you say that, we were also trying to avoid gray as much as we could! I'd say it's somewhere between gray and natural. We're definitely happy with how it looks, especially compared to our old one If you live in EU, you can get a really nice "white stained oak effect" that I'm jealous of (we can't get it in the US)

Don't worry - we were able to sell the old stand on fb marketplace for a very good price! We upgraded and the other person got a great deal 😊

Your rug is way too small. The sofa should be partly resting on the rug, which would greatly enhance the atmosophere. And it would obviously give you a nice ground to place your feet on. Right now, the room looks disjointed.
