Mine has a poly finish on the fretboard and neck. And I absolutely hate it. No idea why anyone would make one with such a sticky finish. I love how my guitar sounds but not how it feels. And it needs ss frets. What can I do to strip it a reseal it with something more satin/matte feeling?

What about roasted maple necks? Are they more finger oil-resistant? All my Shijie electrics have one-piece quarter-sawn roasted maple necks with a satin finish (not sure what the finish is made of).

If it can take oil I'm pretty sure its not different.

Heyo. I’m not much of a player, but I’m beginning to get frustrated because I push down too hard and it bends the notes. Any suggestions outside of practicing technique?

I once asked this of my old jazz guitar teacher. His answer was as simple as a buddhist teaching. He said simply: I only press as hard as I need to.

why doesn't anyone use shellac?

Its too soft and moister hurts it. it also gets sticky when exposed to moisture.
