Personally I think a bigger trailer would be the better option because you don't have much room on that little trailer for adding a torch or other tools and 2 a bigger trailer would be alot easier to back. I have that same welder. ranger 8

That’s a sweet little set up on your trailer. That video of you spinning out is crazy, glad you where ok. That certainly will make me think twice about how I load my trailer.

The trailer should be balanced so nose weight is around 90 kilos.

The trailer needs an A frame at front It is pulling all weight from the centre no wonder it got the speed wobbles, lucky it wasn't a major accident and damage your car. All the geometery is out. What a poorly deigned trailer.. The axle doesn't look like it is in the centre of bed either. Bit rough on the rigging dave but it worked. You can make ring terminals out of different size copper pipe, works a treat just flatten one end with hammer, drill hole and put your cable in non flattened bit Good job.

Awesome work man! Welding is where it is at. Out of the few jobs I've had in my 42 years here....Welding is the best one. To me...it doesn't feel like work. Even when I'm running the grinder, all is good. I currently pour concrete walls. Concrete anything really. Been pouring most of my adult life. I weld on the side as much as I have time for. The high school I attended shut the weld shop down two years before I got there. Huge weld shop. No joke, a dozen booths. Old school Miller welders...the kind that last forever. Kids smoked in the booths. Vandalized everything. Cut oxy-fuel hoses. Seriously. What a blasted shame. No clue why. I wonder from time to time....I think I would be running my own shop had I started in high school. Welding was and still is easy for me. Except for GMAW...tig. There is a clear technique needed for this process. Sure....I can....good enough for what I need. But it would be awesome to get some hands on training from a live instructor. SMAW is my favorite process. And SMAW is where I started. I was told to get a good grip on that process and then and only then do I move on. Sooooooo six years later and I'm still enjoying it. I'm not nearly as hopeful today about our future as I was 6 or so years ago. I really take Welding Seriously and right away started building a good tool set for my own shop. But with this current administration attacking us on all sides....I now see that my plan is not solid. They very much intend on taking everything from us. I paided more last year in taxes than ever before....and the amount I get back gets smaller and smaller each year. Things aren't going to get better. Not while we have the same old same old running the show. I'm gonna keep on for sure....but just won't be getting my own is all. Oh well I suppose. Gonna weld till they kill me. Take care man. Happy welding!!

What’s the trailer weight capacity? And what’s the weight of your equipment? Because I have a similar trailer rated for 1500lbs and I also wanted to put an air compressor on mine, but I don’t want to go over the limit.

Question. Would it not have been better to shift the axle back about 20% of the load bed length so that no matter what you load you would more likely be in a safer load balance?

That's exactly what I was saying the entire time I was watching. That tongue definitely should be triangulated. All of that weight on that 2" square tubing will cause a failure eventually.

If you start swaying, hit the trailer brakes. The absolute worst thing you can do is hit the truck brakes. Here's what you should do... 1.) hit the gas pedal, 2.) use the slider on your brake controller to apply the trailer brakes, or better yet- 3.) make sure you have enough tongue weight so you don't have to worry about it.

He's right. When you are lifting items, connect them as short as possible to the tractor so you aren't struggling with the item spinning and dangling and barely having enough height left on the tractor to clear. Also, when you removed the compressor, I was wondering why you didn't start from the open rear and back out instead of trying to lift over the edge and drive forward with the trailer in the way of your tires. And then I think lifting the box from one end is pretty self explanatory why it didn't work. Basically, attach much shorter and closer to the tractor so you have less spinning and dangling and further range of lifting height and not end up struggling with an inch or two full extended. Another technique is to lash the item so close that it actually makes contact with a bucket with hooks or the forks when you lift/curl. At that point, there is no hanging, spinning and dangling and full range of lift on the tractor.

You are sloppy that is why you created a dangerous situation on the HWY not just to yourself but others around you. I see it in your work too, do better, doesn't take that much more effort to. Tongue weight should be 10-15% of gross/total weight of trailer. If you are not sure find a truck scale to see how much the gross trailer weight is. Then use a bathroom scale for the tongue, make sure trailer is level. Primer directly on rust is sloppy too. Over time your paint job will peel off cause that rust under it is constantly attacking the steel. Should of use wire wheel to remove rust, or if you want to work smarter instead of harder use rust conversion which will become a primer. Your sloppyness is a behavioral thing, change that behavior and your quality of work will be so much better.
