I grew up reading Andy Capp in the newspaper. Smythe has one of the most original and unique drawing styles. Andy Capp was one of my all time favorites.

At age 4 my dad buy's The Mirror news paper and when my dad finish reading his news paper I flip over my dads news paper to see Andy Capp and all these years I've loved it ever since. I hope they'll do a real movie of Andy Capp soon!!

Andy Capp has problem of being so good comic strip. Adaptation demands expansion and that breaks the comedy Andy Capp is built upon. I personally feel Rab C. Nesbitt is best adaptation of Andy Capp in spirit.

Skid Sprocket is alive and well! A few years ago I met Reg's niece and she gave me permission to republish his speedway and Skid Sprocket cartoons in booklet form. These were sold to raise funds for the speedway riders benevolent fund. I still have a batch of "Smythe's Speedway World" containing over 70 cartoons if anyone is interested. Reg's niece also has a book out titled My Dancing Bear on the life of Reg Smythe.

Even though Andy camp was before my time I found my stepdads comic books and he had peanuts, Andy capp, Garfield, marmaduke, beetle baily, b.c., the Wizard of id. I thought Andy capp was the funniest of all because of his boozing, ass kicking, flirting ways then there's his wife who wasn't afraid to put Andy in his place and was the bread winner while Andy was the bread loser

Interesting that Andy Capp was 'syndicated in America'. Peanuts, Garfield and Marmaduke are very American. But how do they get Andy Capp, as it were?
@therespectedlex9794Ай бұрын
@@ChristopherSobieniak But do you get it? Toledo, Ohio, of the band Dead Boyz.

Interesting, but a little deceiving, because the strip had to be laid out on a drawing table, just to get the guide lines in, for the lettering. You can plainly see the penciled in guide lines in the word balloons. You don't do that, on a clipboard, on your lap.

There are no Geordies in Hartlepool... Unless they've moved down from Newcastle.

Reg sounds like Brian Clough... No surprise considering they're both from the North East...
