A quick glimpse of how we farm!
Welcome to Farming With Carp. This channel will show you the jobs that we do on our farm in Indiana each day. We are a regenerative organic farm that capitalizes on the uses of cover crops. We raise corn, soybeans, wheat, peas and alfalfa. We also have a growing herd of livestock on the farm that we graze across our acres. Come along for the ride!

it's great you are showing all the steps, but some explanation of what is happening in each step is absolutely needed! you want to get people on board who do not yet understand everything about regenerative agriculture or even agriculture in general!

I have a organic farm in north central Oregon. I have been in a pasture rotation with cattle and horses for the last five years. Need to go into a rotation of a small grain crops with a cover crops. What is the best cover to use before the small grains. We don’t raise soy or corn as there is no local market to sell into. All of the ground is irrigated. Love your videos you are doing what I want to do!!

Thanks for the support! You could always grow a small grain like barley wheat rye ryegrass, whatever grows out there that could survive the winter, harvest it in the early summer and then put out a mix to graze cattle on in the summer, then another small grain crop in the fall. You would basically have covers year round then. Indiana is different than Oregon though

Thanks for watching them and enjoying them! This was our first year planting corn into alfalfa, so we are still learning! With that said the yields weren’t amazing, but we did see anywhere from 130-150 in spots. We will hope to see better results next time we do it!

1) He explains in other video's or look up videos by his father in law Rick Clark regenerative Ag 2) Short answer: Cover crops, and soil health since non tilling, no salts added, and no herbicide/fungicide/insecticide which kills all the micro organisms which fix the nutrients for you.

Which machines are following the roller crimper and what do they do? I am from Germany and I never saw something like that. Have a nice new year
@farmingwithcarp8551
@farmingwithcarp8551 2 жыл бұрын
We have 3 machines that could follow the roller crimper. They are all used for weed management. First is the rowmow, it is used to cut the weeds between the rows. Second is the inrow roller. It is used to roll weeds to terminate them. Third is the weed zapper. It is used to terminate weeds that are above the canopy of the crop. All depends on the situation for which tool is needed.

Why do you crimp after planting instead of before planting? Who is the manufacturer of your crimper?
@farmingwithcarp8551
@farmingwithcarp8551 2 жыл бұрын
I&J Manufacturing on the crimper. We like to crimp after because we roll the beans and the cover crop. Rolling the bean at V2 hurts the apical bud, the plant the stacks nodes and branches out instead of just going vertical. Has worked for us.

Great question. We don’t have any issues planting into the thick cover. We have a few things on our planter that help with cutting through it. As far as germination we always see good stands year after year.
