The butter fly and tootsie roll dance took over the country in the early 90s, didn't know she started it. Respect

Met her back in the early-mid 90s in London as a kid. Walking to the shop/store with my girl cousin's, one who was a huge Patra fan and a few years younger than us, to buy some stuff for my aunt. The huge Patra fan cousin was walking ahead of us because she was miserable about something, and as we walked past a Caribbean takeaway on our street, me and my other cousin looked into the takeaway and saw Patra ordering food. We called my other cousin back, and she couldn't believe it. We went in and spoke to Patra, who was with her Manager and she signed some autographs for us. She told my miserable cousin that she reminded her of Eddie Murphy, the way she smiled. That made her day. Such a nice woman.

Patra did not create the Butterfly dance, it was already a big dance in the dancehall by the time Patra popularized it to the Americans. Go look up some of the female Dancer of the early 90's and late 80's and see where the butterfly dance come from.

Lady Patra was in a class of her own. She had it all and known for her signature butterfly dance. Her music is straight fire and we still don’t get tired of it. We love her music and she became a dancehall legend in her own right. She worked with Shabba Ranks a couple of times , so they were making dancehall music go nationwide. She had disappeared from the industry and took a break.
