When I was younger, I never really cared about Regine. I was like...meh just another ballad singer like we don't have enough of those. Then in College, my professor is a sort of successful PR person so as part of our project, he made us take part in the organization of one of her concerts in our area. We did PR, admin and some manpower related stuffs. So of course during the event itself, from her arrival till after concert we were there. And I shit you not, the first time I fckng heard her live, I became an instant fan! Before d concert, she did this rehearsal thing and she sang "one moment in time" and I just froze there like an idiot. The way she belted those perfect notes sent goosebumps all over my body. You really do have to see her live. hehe

You know what, I didnt care much about Regine.. until now. I used to take her for granted, thinking that she's just another balladeer. I grew up in a time when she's always reaching those high notes in a TV show every Sunday afternoon. I sort of got used to her voice and how effortlessly she belts out those notes. Given that, I thought nothing special about her anymore. But hey, now I must admit that I was soooo wrong. T_T After her recent R30 concert, I started watching her performance from way back before I was even born. I realized that every performance of her during those Sundays were part of a musical history, musical phenomenon. Every performance she does is a once in a lifetime experience. Now that she's 47 and recently changed as a singer (vocals are rounder, fiercer), I came to love her more. I appreciated what she has contributed to our culture; how much influence she made to the younger generation of singers; how high she has raised the bar for the next belters who would aspire to be in the same league as hers. She's indeed an icon. Whoever tries to follow her steps may make their mark, but she will always be incomparable. She's the queen of all the Philippine belters. I love you Regine Velasquez!

GMA is the television network and the song that she sang is an original pilipino music (OPM) this video was perhaps recorded between 1999-2002. and yes she's a little bit old now but her legacy in our music industry is unshakable. here in Philippines, when you say regine Velasquez every single person will just bow and will take their hats off. since she got married and had a son, she mellowed down but she's still visible every now and then.
