Miller Theatre’s celebrated (and free) Pop-Up Concerts continue with Live from Columbia, a new digital initiative offering audiences a virtual front-row seat to extraordinary performances filmed live in the Lantern-a stunning venue part of Columbia University's Manhattanville campus.
Co-presented with Columbia University School of the Arts
Live from Columbia brings Columbia University to audiences around the world, showcasing the breadth of Miller's programming-from Bach to jazz to living composers-while highlighting the iconic beauty of the campus of Columbia University.
Concerts are filmed live, and will premiere throughout the season, with on-demand streaming available immediately after.

O choro, um gênero 100% brasileiro, aliás, o pai de todos o demais gêneros da música brasileira, vem literalmente "invadindo" os melhores espaços de música dos centros mais desenvolvidos pela sua qualidade melódica, harmônica e rítmica. Pixinguinha virou "must" em todas as partes onde é tocado. Os músicos mais talentosos de todas as partes do mundo "descobriram" o choro e fazem questão, aliás, sentem orgulho em tocá-lo. Só faltam os próprios brasileiros, principalmente as gerações mais jovens, "redescobrirem" a sua música e sentirem orgulho de ouvi-la e tocá-la. Os próprios entrangeiros a consideram " a melhor música popular do mundo!", porque não nós?

@@netomusic_br Hola! Conozco a Jacob do Bandolim. Es extraordinaria su composición... Desde Chile, podría recomendar a Violeta Parra, al menos si de folclor quieres conocer. Ella además de ser una gran cantautora, contribuyó a la preservación y recopilación de la música folclórica chilena. Violeta fué, es y será la mentora espiritual de la tradición folclórica en Chile. Otros grupos/artistas que te recomiendo: Victor Jara, Los Jaivas, Inti illimani, Illapu, Congreso, Sol y lluvia, Quilapayún. Estos grupos y más, fueron lo que en su momento se denominó "La nueva canción Chilena", grupos que siguieron las pistas de Violeta Parra e incorporarían las influencias latinoamericanas, tanto ritmos como en instrumentos. Muchas de sus letras están notoriamente relacionadas a la política de ese entonces (década de los 60-70), la cual hablaba de libertades, unión popular y realidades latinoamericanas. Todo interrumpido en el año 73 con la dictadura de Pinochet. Tambien te podría mencionar que averigües sobre el "Canto a lo Divino" o "Décimas", que fueron cantos poéticos con métricas bien peculiares. Ahí hay mucho por explorar. Saludos!

The pandeiro is a trip in itself indeed... The good panderist/tamborine player (?) has to create a line that enhances the comprehension of the song as a whole. It can`t be too flat nor too complex. Although simple it can always be rich and soundful. Besides, it`s the only instrument that is purely ryhtmic, although you can make it with more bass or more harmonics. Welcome to choro. There is much to listen to. Go to Yamandu or Hamilton de Holanda to have a nice feel of it. Then you search for what we have in the past. Have fun!

Não é comum ver nas rodas de choro do Brasil o acordeon que é predominante nesta apresentação pela técnica. Os soberbos aqui deveriam ser mais humildes e reconhecer a magnífica apresentação deste músicos.
