On today's agenda, I answer questions from @Lacroix999 about regret rates of #GenderAffirmingSurgery and whether I am qualified to talk about any of this in the first place. SPOILER ALERT: I am qualified.

I know two people who completed gender reassignment surgery. The reality of every single day requiring them to center their lives around medical care was not something either of them really grasped, if it was even correctly imparted to them. They are on medication, physical maintenance of their transition, and not infrequent physical setbacks/complications that have turned out to be actually the norm. Their lives still daily center on the physical side of the transitions. Neither says the surgery changed their struggle with their happiness like they believed it would. Neither has a good, or satisfying sex life. Apparently it’s complicated. I don’t know the private details. Neither maintained previous or subsequent relationships. One is totally single, but the other has been in love and not kept the relationships working. Both changed their original stance on reassignment surgery. One feels like they might have had breast implants but not the bottom stuff. One claims total regret. I love them both. They are very brave and suffering people.

I would say a sample size of two is a bit suspect, but you make an excellent point, and I will address it in a video this week. Thank you - I will mention you when I post the video. 💜

@@amethystaherrick Yes. It wasn’t meant to be a proper survey or poll. They are the only two people I know who have this life and are personally close relationships of mine that they talk about private things with me and where I have observed details of their experiences. The only other experience I have had with Transgender people are those who like to come to my husband’s band which has long been popular in our area. I know there have been cross-dressed people who come to dance and have fun but take ish from other patrons who have been drinking. Some band members stopped playing to rescue one person being roughed up on the dance floor once. I cried in the bathroom for the rest of that gig. Society. It’s messy. My biggest complaint is that I don’t believe people who have gender reassignment surgery are properly informed. I’m not sure you CAN properly make a patient understand. I have had a dumb idea that you should live with someone who had it done for a time and see what a day is really like. I also personally don’t believe they have perfected either the medical or surgical procedures to do it. But surgeons live to do surgery (that’s why they chose surgery and everything else they do with office appointments and paperwork is to get into the operating room just like everything else a football player does- exercise and practice and studying game tapes-is to get on the field for a game) -- and EVERYONE wants our money. So even if it’s not perfected, they will do it. Surgeons are not psychologists. Oh, my goodness. Who knew I had such a wordy opinion. God bless your efforts here. 🤎

@@drummerlovesbookworm9738 - again, I think you make a great point, and I'll answer more fully in video. That said, this surgery has been performed more than 50 years. I personally know many people who went through it. I personally cared for a friend after surgery. It's well known and understood. But...yes, there are parts that maybe aren't well described...or ignored when they are described. A surgeon can't help with the latter.

I have spoken to so many people personally, who have gone through reassignment and none of them regret it. The only regret that resounds in all of them is not making the decision sooner. I'm not sure if it is different in different places, but that's been my experience. It seems strange that they would not understand the maintenance/ setbacks and complications etc. because most people have already been through a ton of that before they even get to surgery.

LOL, my go to person for medical advice would not be an analytical chemist, just as it wouldn't be a historian or a physicist. It would be a MEDICAL doctor. The issue isn't about an ADULT transitioning, they can do with their body as they please. The issue has to do with the ethics of forcing a child (however that's defined) to do so. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ad-mnamEvZa4cmQ.html

My issue is certainly about me transitioning, not children. I may, however, address your concern over credentials in another video. By this standard, the Cass Report is invalidated. Hilary Cass does not have an MD. She is a nurse.

You do know all medication using anything drug related is chemistry right? Chemistry is the field doing the most work on curing cancer, and making the most progress. Sure, no is going to a chemist for medical advice. However, they are the ones discovering the information for the doctors use properly. Also the link you provide is from PragerU. I might try to find information on it, but PragerU is denounced by several medical institutions.

You are not A psychiatrist which is a physician who specializes in psychiatry. Psychiatrists are physicians and evaluate patients to determine whether their symptoms are the result of a physical illness, a combination of physical and mental ailments or strictly mental issues. So know by the credentials you just stated you are not qualified to give any advice. These opinion are your own. Quit pushing this garbage out there for children to see.

I am an Analytical Chemist, and I discussed data analysis and experimental design in this video, and I am eminently qualified to talk about that. By your description, a psychiatrist would not be. On that note, however, church leaders are 100% disqualified, being neither analytical chemists nor psychiatrists. And finally, randos on the internet leaving dubious comments should not even be considered. So you're welcome for my response at all. I've stated several times what I talk about is my experience. I don't give advice. That said, no psychiatrist can tell me how I feel, regardless of whether they would classify how I feel as a pathology. My opinions are absolutely my own, and that's how science evolves - one scientist challenges theories with data that clearly doesn't fit, as I am. Regarding children, when posting a video, KZfaq asks directly if your video is for children, and I always check "No." I've done my due diligence, and it remains to KZfaq to make good on it.

I agree wholeheartedly, and that's the foundation of my theory of identity - that we have an origin of identity that exists outside our physical and social environment. Maybe you'd be interested in reading more of my work starting with this article: genderidentitytoday.com/the-process-of-gender-vs-the-result-of-gender-identity/ That has links to my earlier work that flesh out details. You knew at 5 years old...by the time a child is 5 there can be many environmental, and emotional factors that contribute to a child's thoughts. That you were 5 does not point to a genetic trait, or anything spiritual.

Just because you made up a theory on gender identity doesn’t make it true🥴comparing other surgeries with “gender” surgeries is ridiculous 🤪

Given gender-affirming surgery is classified as "elective cosmetic" surgery by its critics, comparing regret rates for GAS and other elective cosmetic surgery is appropriate. I'd be interested in hearing why my comparison was ridiculous.

I agree making up a theory doesn't make it true. The scientific method depends on testing theories. When one is consistently proved wrong by empirical evidence, we move on. I may discuss my gender theory later, and I recommend you evaluate it only then.
