the motion of your back foot snapping down and then going up and basically out of the way is honestly the most important tip to give to anyone starting ollies, of course give them the basic run down of how it works but try to put a lot of enforcement on snapping the back foot and bring it up, that tip will not only help them ollie higher and better but allow them to learn and master other tricks too, that one thing was what kept me from doing 5050s heel flips kickflips and so much more for so long

guys i finally learned the ollie its so beautiful. how i learned to ollie was to position my body facing more to the front than looking to the side it makes it easier to flick up your foot-so you can level out your board. try doing kickflips because it will teach you alot about ollies, trying hard tricks while learning beginner tricks gives you better understanding on how to control your board trust.

Good video. I've been trying a lot of things to fix to my ollie and really focusing on raising my back leg more along with popping from the ankle instead of kicking down with my whole leg / knee (it helps to not even think about your leg going down at all) has improved and made them a lot more consistent already.

I gave up on skating a long time ago because I couldn't Ollie. I just started again after about 20 years, and I landed my first Ollie about 8 hours ago. I felt like I was in high school again. Apparently, I had my toes too far over the edge of the board, and it always went behind me. I just needed to scoot back a little. God bless KZfaq.
