REI brings us a simple but quality Goretex shell jacket. A staple in techwear, a good shell jacket is almost a must.
for size reference: I am 6'2" and 150lbs roughly and got an Large in this jacket

Basically got this jacket because of this video. Nice thorough review. Thought about going with more expensive Patagonia jackets, but went with gor-tex over h2no. The size i got is pretty well-fitting and not baggy at all with layers on. Gotta update and say I returned this jacket because the size I got ended up being a little too small and the next size seemed a little too big. The inside layer of the jacket ended up being too sticky. The pocket vents seemed like a nice solution but it really wasn't enough. I spent a little more and ended up really satisfied with the Northface Apex Flex GTX

That jacket is gore tex Paclite. There are so many variations of goretex. Best 2 IMO are regular 3 layer Gore Tex, and Gore Tex Pro.

These are great for lightweight stuff. Only place they will soak out is with a heavy pack on.. the straps will eventually work the water in around your shoulders.. most 2-layers have that though eventually. Even the nicest stuff suffers in that area. Edit: chest pockets are called Napoleon pockets.. super cool name.

How do you fold it up to put it in your pack? Is there a pocket that the jacket folds up into?

How tall are you ? And what are your usually sizing in average clothes? I'm thinking about getting a large but I don't want it to be too big

Just to comment, I'm really impressed with REI gear. I had a North Face Triclimate jacket that I paid way too much for. I went to REI just browsing and fell in love with their waterproof 850 down jacket. Needless to say I now don't own the north face jacket any more. I think I may pick this up for spring

This range of jakets used to have soft-touch felt lining, a goggle stretch pocket on the inside and overall heavier construction closer to what is now featured on top of the line Arcteryx jackets for 400-500 dollars. I don't know what happened to REI but you can't get the kind of quality for the money you used to be able to.

how os the freedom of movement when putting xour arms up in the air ? armholse seem still to be a bit wide. jacket fits you well, though.how mch did you pay for it? the Mountain Equipment Zeno Jacket I wear could also interest you at 150 €, since its cut a bit tighter and has features such as arm zips and higher side pockets (for use with a backpack with hip belt). OTOH you now already have some decent rain protection witht hat shell, and it will surely do the job.

Movement is very good! the arm are wide, especially near the shoulder. I (well my sister got me it as a birthday gift) paid $159 which is 138 € roughly. I really like your mountain equipment zeno jacket. That jacket seemed to balance being slim, while not hindering movement
