Agreed! For the last 30+ years I I have always believed that Steve was the voice of Journey and nobody could ever replace him but now think Tommy really could! Tommy…you did this song proud!

I know I’m not the only person to request that all of his covers be put on Spotify. All the covers I’ve heard, Tommy has stayed true to the original. The only difference is that, Tommy blows the original out the water. I’ll say it again and again. His voice is absolutely magical.

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Well, I was fairly certain Tommy would do an excellent job with the cover; but I was NOT prepared for what an AMAZING treatment he gave the original song. His signature voice simply SHINES in this version and he does great respect to Steve Perry here. I even love the subtle and the not-so-subtle changes he made here and there. The guitar solo was a very unexpected and surprisingly welcome addition. Chalk up yet ANOTHER marvelous classic cover for Maestro Johannson.

I've already had time to research all his bands, I from finland, So we're in his neighboring coyntry, I also read his interviews in finnish metal magazines, he is also great at adapting. his singing style to fit the spirit of the times, his technique is amazing and he can sing really powerfully if the song calls for it, he probably produces sounds over 4 oktaves. I'm super glad I found her

I have to disagree on the upgrade part. It's pretty much impossible to do better than the original. (Blind Guardian being the exception)

@@dereklaing2929 I'd say this one's at least in par with the original, being maybe the most original-like of his interpretations. Of course it's a matter of taste, but I like Tommy's voice better. Also, the overall sound picture.

I've seen Sabaton a few times in concert and I've always loved Tommy's enthusiasm and happiness when playing, but I honestly had no idea he was THIS talented, with the ability to sing and play guitar and piano. A true amazing talent.

Okay, We ALL know Tommy usually SLAYS with every single cover he does, so this is all but guaranteed to be no exception. But, I'm going to reserve judgement until the premiere when he is probably going to blow our collective minds and MELT OUR FREAKING FACES OFF!!!!! This is going to be a tricky one; a LOT of bands have covered this song recently; some have absolutely KILLED IT (looking at YOU Eva Under Fire....) and some have not done it the proper justice it deserves. We get it, it's JOURNEY! Probably one of the most iconic songs of the last 40 or so years. Tommy is a seasoned professional, so I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that he is going to completely CRUSH this one. Can't wait till tomorrow morning......

This brought tears to my eyes. You absolutely nailed this. This was my absolute favorite song when it came out on the Frontiers album back in 1983. I was 15. I'm now 54. Thank you! I'm a new Sabaton recruit and just recently saw you in Salt Lake City for the first time. I was introduced to you by my nephew whose dad (my brother-in-law) is a Lt. Colonel in the US Army. I love the back-up singing in Sabaton. I tell people you are like a heavy-metal mens choir. During your show, I was blindsided by you singing "Highway to Hell". What? That was awesome! He could be the lead singer of his own band! Little did I know that you already are. Then, yesterday, I was watching an interview with Hannes (I'm also a fan of Floor Jansen and Nightwish) where he referenced you doing something with Disney. Well, I just watched all your Disney stuff and am now exploring yet-annother rabbit hole. I hope you are considering a solo project and getting these covers on the streaming services. Later.🤘

When this video popped up in my feed, I knew Tommy was gonna slay it! And he did! His tone and range were the perfect fit for this Journey classic. Until now, other than Steve Perry, I’ve only ever heard one other person sing it with justice and that’s Deen Castronovo. Tommy, you proved you are worthy of their company. I think Arnel Pineda did an amazing job bringing back Journey to the world. I personally prefer Tommys coverversion, but Sweden is filled with amazing rock singers. Watch Arnell sing standing then wonder how Tommy can can belt out "in vain, in vaaain, in vaaaaaaiiiin" seated. Most of Perry's greatest vocal anomolies were standing. Fun to watch Tommy go from "I'm still standing" to "Yes, folks, I'm now seated."

Steve Perry's vocals are incredible and the ability to sound just as good as he does is awesome. I would say Tommy's vocals could rival even Dimash Kudaibergen's, but I would need to hear him sing classical to fully make that comparison. Since Tommy did "Phantom of the Opera" I would love to hear him do a version of "Gethsemane" from the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar"
