Like you said - You're not friends. It's just business, right? Gotta figure out what's in it for you + what's in it for the bank. Credit Unions are a bit different though IMO. I feel our relationship with ours has been worth it. Thanks for the info + video!

Once Chase offers a savings rate that isn’t completely laughable, then I’ll give them all my money.

Chase is the by far the worst of the Big Four banks for interest. The 0.02% for their Premier Relationship Savings Account is the same that they were paying two years ago when the Fed had interest rates at basically 0%. Citi is the only one of the Big Four with a decent interest rate. They are currently paying 4.05%.

Not sure about larger banks, but it seems to go well with credit unions at least from my experience, especially during my credit rebuilding phase

CU's are built to make and keep relationships to a degree. That's worth something, especially in the early days. They can also offer community programs for kids or those just starting out to help with education which is a nice touch

I had a recent issue with a bank bonus. If I had a real relationship the manager woulda taken care of it. Because you can tell I'm a bonus hunter they said go take a running leap

Great discussion. I have benefited greatly from relationship banking. A lot depends on the institution. I love Chase, hate Wells Fargo, but have relationships with both. Wells Fargo is more like an abusive dysfunctional relationship. 😂

Haha, they just keep doing silly things... Chase is like an off again/on again. Great cards, awful deposit products, so so service

In your May 11 video at about the 5:30, you mentioned mortgage lenders monitoring or being notified when the borrower gets a new mortgage. What!?! Please explain more. How does this happen? What do they do with this info? In the future, could the lender use that info to call your old 3% mortgage due? I'm guessing the day will come when lenders are going to be looking for reason to get out of those cheap mortgage loans from 2021. Thoughts?

The bank you did your loan with can pay for services that will give them heads up if you have mortgage credit pulled. It's some how throws a different notification than credit for a credit card. Current lender will usually get a next day notification that a client is shopping around and may try to market to you as a lead. There's rules around permissible use of credit. So the bank shouldn't be able to use that credit info for other products. Banks can end a banking relationship at any time, without giving a reason. This rare on mortgage loans but it could happen. Usually they give 30 days to take the loan elsewhere; which means refi it. They would not call a loan due to you shopping around. It's more so if something came back in an audit for fraud perhaps. Almost all loans are sold within days of closing. Some loans are kept on a balance sheet like ARMs or "special people " loans like in the story I told. So the bank doesn't care what happens after that... unless they get hit with a repurchase request from the buyer (Freddie/Fannie). Even then they probably won't call the loan unless you outright lied. They usually call and try to get you to refi with a killer deal.

@@RJFinancial Maybe they backpedaled after getting bad press? Have not keep up-to-date on it. Know for a fact that HP on a at least two occasions has updated a "security update" that made you have to use their chipped ink cartage's on their printers.
