She’s just saying what she thinks he would want to hear lol. Most Filipina women are like that because they don’t want to lose the wallet. That’s more like a father daughter relationship. Filipinas will marry anytime for money/stable housing food

Baby Mae, you have no idea the gem you have in Paul. He’s not telling you what to do, he’s letting you know it’s okay to move on whatever that ends up meaning to you. It’s not a question that requires an answer now, it’s just Paul telling his girl, your happiness is all he wants for you now and in the future when he’s not here. It’s one more way to express Mahal. Guys, this is a very touchy issue, often a hard conversation to have. Don’t wait till it happens to appreciate the different ways we say I care about you while we’re still living. Paul, true gentleman to the end, peace be with you my friend.

Thank you for saying this. Many people don't realize that life is short, and it's critical to take a moment and share your thoughts, concerns, feelings, and wishes. This is so important that both partners UNDERSTAND how the other partner truly feels so that they can peacefully respect each other's wishes.

Baby Mae, you are an absolute sweetheart a rare gem and Paul is blessed to have found a woman who has so many special qualities, not to mention your total loyalty. I will be happy if my Filipina ends up being half the woman you are. I understand why you were drawn to her Paul, she is and exceptional human being. Just a great couple and what you have, is what the majority of those of us who are looking for true love would wish for. TC

I asked my elderly grandmother, who was widowed with two children in her 30s, why she never remarried. She showed me the ring on her finger and told me she had a husband. My Filipina wife and I have had this conversation. Same opinions. Hard topics but necessary. Good content. Love the uniform. You hit the lottery Paul. Hard to hit it twice.

I had a tear 😢in my eyes listening to BBY Mae’s story about her Mom making her a school uniform . My wife didn’t have it that bad but I do know she had to survive on what the family could provide . As far as BBY Mae staying single she would have to hide in them mountains 🏔️ because guys would be flying into the Philippines 🇵🇭 real fast to court her 😂😂😂😂 . Now both of you stay happy and healthy you guys are a beautiful couple ❤🙏

My wife of 30 years is Chinese and although we talk about the planning side of estate matters, she regards it as bad luck or tempting fate to talk much about death and dying. I agree with Mae about the remarrying although I’m much older. I wouldn’t remarry either. It’s almost like asking for potential trouble while you’re adapting to your later years of single life. You first responsibility though Mae, is to keep the ol’ dog alive and well!

Bud, you are wise enough in life to know. I was married to a woman who said the exact same things, said she would even wipe my butt when I was too old or too disabled, but if I died never remarry. Fast forward to decade later, she left me and is with another man. Great story, but I hope men have enough insights from the masses of us who believed.

Paul: Such an important topic to discuss with your partner no matter what the age gap is. I know from personal experience what it's like to lose a partner in the final way. While we were both still in high school, my girlfriend of 3 years was killed by a drunk driver. We were young, but we were very much in love with each other. We made plans to get our careers going and our finances set before taking the vows. We complimented each other like bookends. After her funeral her parents asked me the same question. Would I date again? I replied that the future is not set, and there is a long way to go before my journey is over. At some point I would date again, but it would take a very long time to find someone as special as Nikki. I have dated since then, but never married, because I could never find someone who made me feel anywhere close to the way Nikki made me feel for any length of time (more than a couple months). Still hopeful, still looking, but with the way western women are acting lately, it's not worth the effort. One of the reasons I really want to go to the Philippines, the women there know how to be humble, kind, and selfless. It happened 36 years ago this July, and when I am down and feeling a bit depressed, I think about the wonderful time I had with a very special person in my life. And it cheers me up and gives me hope that someday I may find another special person to share the rest of what I have left of life.

I am 23 years older than my filipina. Realistically I will probably pass first. I'm hoping we can enjoy lot of time together but I have some health issues so I am not sure how long. I try not to think about it and just enjoy every day we wake up together. I worry about her financially when that time comes. I am getting ready to prepare some documents to give her some legal rights. Due to my health I am not able to get life insurance without paying lots of money for it. I would rather put money into her bank monthly for emergency purposes. I hate the thought of dying and leaving her in financial trouble. I have seen situations couple years ago on KZfaq where foreigners have passed on and the wife or girlfriend had nothing. A guy named Mike comes to mind and I saw her troubles on videos and I thought I don't want my filipina to be left like that. Great vlog Paul. Long life to you both.

This is something that all couples should talk about, there's no guarantees in life except that if you are born eventually you die, every day and moment is a blessing no matter what your age, tomorrow is not guaranteed so live like every minute is your last. Respect the people around you and your loved ones, and take care of each other in life and in death, I wish the both of you a very long and happy life together. Me personally I would not want the person I love to spend the rest of their life alone, I would expect them to eventually find a new partner, that doesn't mean that they didn't love you with all of there heart, it's just that a person needs companionship we weren't meant to be alone. Good luck and best wishes to both of you.

I was happily married for 20 years when I had this conversation with my wife. She wanted to get remarried and I did not. Just a couple of months later she was killed in an accident. It took 11 years before I could even consider trying to replace her in my life or in my heart. I wish that hole in my chest had healed more quickly as that 11 years represented about 25% of my remaining life span and the youngest portion of that remaining life span. At 58 I'm now willing to entertain the thought of another partner.

The nice thing about the Philippines is age gap relationships. Once old Americans that are with these 20 somethings ,pass away ; a new expat can just take over , move into the home the previous expat left behind, and you'll still have a nice girl in her 30's , financial independent, and you'll be living for free in the house.

My Filipina wife well we're not technically married but we consider ourselves husband and wife. Since she is 24 years younger than me the chances of me going first is more than likely. We have had this discussion we feel the same as you and Mae. We have built 2 houses here on the small farm she owns so she won't have to worry about where to live. Plus she's the beneficiary in my will so that should take care of her comfortably in the future. Plus we have invested in a couple of parcels of land for back up incase some major happens in the markets. So hopefully she will be in a good position when I'm gone. Just a thought for you Paul maybe you could figure out a way to get Mae that house that she wants when your gone Plus you wouldn't have to pay rent while your still here with Mae.

Paul, It is great to see that you and Baby Mae are having this important conversation about this subject. My beautiful and loving traditional wife of 30 years and I had these same conversations during our marriage. She told me that should I pass before her, she has no plans or desire to date or marry again. I would laugh when she would tell me that she does not want to cook, clean or do laundry for any other man but me. She was the greatest wife ever! Sadly, I lost her in 2016 to a brain tumor and I am holding the same promise to her that she gave to me. I have no desire to be with anyone else or engage in a relationship as a commitment to her and our marriage. My only plan is to live out my life with our wonderful memories together until I see her again beyond this life. I know in my heart that she will be there to greet me and be together, this time forever. I commend Baby Mae for her decision and I plan to do the same for my beautiful wife. May God continue to bless you both with many more years of love and happiness.

I'll say no one holds our future but when it is the current situation will let you realized what you need or don't need in your life. Having a good companion is a good is not all about sex, it's having someone you are comfortable to be with....

Paul, you and I are of a similar age (I turned 68 in August last year - happy cake day, BTW). Between you and Pea, I get a pretty good, honest glimpse of what to expect if-and-when I move to PI. I was there waaaaaay back in the 70's when I was in the Navy (the day I got off base was the day Marcos Sr declared martial law) and I fell in love with the country and the people - well, what little of the country I got to see back then. Travel by American sailors at that time was frowned upon due to political circumstances. The only thing I ever had difficulty adjusting to was the crushing poverty, which is still very much there. Some of the stories I'm getting from women are just heartbreaking. I chuckled when I saw your video as this is a conversation I do try to have right up front, especially when someone more than 25 years younger than me contacts me on a dating site. I want to make sure they are working in some way, shape, or form, and have a career so that I am not constantly worrying about how they will survive should something happen to me (I've got good genes and can pretty much expect to live into my 90's if I eat healthy(er), but I don't want them lapsing into poverty once I'm gone. I'm most especially worried when a 30-something messages me on FilippinoCupid and really starts pushing for a relationship. My own qualification list is that they are either; Employed; have a degree from a vocational college or a bachelors or; own their own business. I let them know up front that I want them to have financial independence from me. It's turned more than one of them off, but that's probably a good thing. We also seem to agree on tattoos. I was once asked by my son (when he was still in high school, he's 41 now), why I "didn't get a tattoo in the Navy." I told him it was because a.) They could never get me drunk enough; b.) I couldn't find a tattoo that I wouldn't think looked stupid on me 'when I turned 50' and; c.) because I have a fear of needles. If I can't stand to have a phlebotomist stab me once with a needle without getting queasy, I'm CERTAINLY not going to want to be stabbed 10,000 times with one! But, as I recall being told in my youth, the reason for getting tattoos was to hide the bruising from an abusive relationship. That may or may not be true, but it stuck with me and I really don't understand Tats. Too permanent. Piercings, you can take out when you are tired of them. Tats are for life. I think it was George Carlin that said something along the lines of, "That picture of a rising sun you got on your lower back in your twenties is going to look like an insane octopus trying to escape from your ass when you're fifty!" Well, when I get there, I hope to visit your city and perhaps have that proverbial brew with you, my friend!

Hello Paul and Baby Mae, I'm in a LDR with a filipina in the province and we have been very open in many topics. Death was discussed and she said the same thing as Mae that she would never have another mate. There is an eighteen year difference in our ages and me being 65 yrs. old I wouldn't ever look for another mate if she were to pass before me. I so agree with you about tattoos that is such a turn off to me when I see them on a woman, another immediate question I had for my girlfriend. You are one lucky guy to find such a beautiful and kind woman like Mae, May God bless you both.

Interesting topic. She will inevitably meet another soulmate should she ever be widowed. My wife and I met reluctantly and absolutely NOT looking 44 years ago on Saint Patrick's day. Bless you, both in this particular relationship. Enjoy every moment together.

I think it's very healthy to discuss dying with your partner, I think it helps when the time comes... when one of you passes away, by openly talking about it...not in a morbid way... helps the other with the grief. Thanks for sharing your life Paul & Baby Mae

Well thanks Paul, that opened up some fresh wounds. I'm still struggling with the death of my wife, it's been two years now; and this was a conversation she and I never really had. I'd bring it up occasionally because when I was in the military I was always having to update my will, and every time the subject came up she would absolutely shut down and refuse to talk about it. The closest we came to this subject was about 4 months before she passed away. Out of the blue, she says to me, "Baby, I wanna die first." I was like _Why!?_ "Because I know I could not live without you, ever." Well dear, that's funny coz I feel the same way for the same reason. Sure enough, she passed away four months later, and I wouldn't wish this grief on anyone. But I take some solace in knowing that Mindy _didn't_ have to live with this and so she was spared that pain. As for whether I'd date again, I sincerely doubt it. I had what I always wanted in my wife of 42 years and so that 'need' for a relationship just isn't there. Like y'all, the potential for drama is a turn-off, and at my age it's all about preserving my ability to live in retirement without carrying any baggage that at least currently I have no use for. My heart is warmed by Mae's insistence that after you're gone she's done and is content to live alone, because that's pretty much where I'm at now. Whether that changes or not down the road is up for grabs, but presently I just don't have that need to fulfill.

Right there with you Brian. Lost my wife of 47 years in Dec. of 2020. I've finally come to a point of acceptance, I can now look at old photos and not burst into tears. I'll never marry again, but it would be nice to have someone to share experiences with.

@@davet766 Hey Dave, yeah that's kinda my dilemma at this point. I have zero desire to remarry; I had what I'd always wanted when I had my wife. OTOH it's hard to get out in the world with no one to share it with. I hope when I'm ready that I can pair up with someone for _companionship_ around shared interests; but not marriage. Not at this stage of my life.

I know it's hard to talk about. I'm a female and my husband hated to talk about such issues. He was Sicilian and died far too young. I'm in a new relationship with a Filipina 22 years younger than me, who also doges such discussions. My husband did not keep up on his paperwork for survivors. Money went to other recipients on old policies. Unlike him I updated my policies to include her in mine. As our relationship grows she will slowly be added to more.

May I suggest purchasing a life insurance policy with baby mae as the beneficiary. The funds upon your demise may be invested in the stock market in companies which pay dividends about 10%. As long as she only withdraws the dividends and not the principal, she can count on a stream of income the rest of her life. Companies like IBM pay about 5% in dividends, Sunoco pays almost 8%. There are many others that pay about 10 to 12%.
